LAC+USC interview new grad RN

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

any updates on those who started last Sept 4th??

Hi everyone!

I actually started working on Sept 17th (my original start date was Sept 4 but it got delayed). So I finished my second week of orientation. It's mainly didactic but we also go on the floor to orient. I already met my preceptor and have started working with her. Will work again this weekend and start doing patient care. I really like it so far. Congrats to all who got hired to county.

interview at LAC USC for medsurg this friday!!!!!! what should i expect??? any advice?!?!?!

Hi & Congrats.

I'm working now on a M/S floor @ LAC/USC. You'll interview w/ at least 2 managers. My interviewers were nice and the questions are similar to the civil interview. Questions can vary but I would know the mission/values of the hospital, be relaxed, maintain occasional eye contact....I think you'll be fine. Good Luck!

I'm starting at olive view on oct 22... I'm so excited!!! Btw, the recruiter told me that I'm gonna attend a class for the whole week then I guess floor work after..

What unit are u going to? Yes, usually there's about 2 weeks of classes before going to the floor.

med surg unit.. when do they give u ur schedule though?

Not sure for Olive View. At LAC/USC, on the first day, I went to HR to sign paperwork & was given an orientation schedule. Now that I'm on the floor, I follow my preceptor's work schedule.

are you working fulltime now?

yep :-) 4days/week (two 12-hrs & 2-8hrs).

@myitas did u have prior experience? I have been calling Olive they say their positions require exp and LAS+USC recruiter told me they will call everyone who is in the list and they have openings but I have not heard anything ..i am on the list since Aug I am getting little dissappointed ...how long did it take for u

Thanks

I did not have experience prior to hire. It took about a month to get a unit interview after getting the eligibility letter. I was offered the job a month later & it took another 2 months b4 I actually started working. It's a long process. In addition to calling also send your resume & eligibility letter. Put your units of preference on the letter. Good luck & hope you get something soon.
