Strangely no one here in WV is talking about this issue in regards to their work. I have no idea what the facilities are doing about OT. I guess they will wait to anounce any changes once the law is actually in effect.

I can only guess what some of the facilities will do. I have not heard anything about Ohio or Pa. Some of our nurses who live close to the borders of these states work there, they are not saying anything either.

WyomingRN,

I agree with just about everything you said, especially about the government having to abide by the laws. I just think in this instance, it is pointless. Everyone in Ohio thinks they are a state and all the states immediately surrounding Ohio have clearly defined boundaries and are not in a dispute with Ohio over this matter. They are american citizens. What should we do other than to try to correct the situation, as they did in 1953? Should we remove them from that area and take away their citizenship? Try to undo what was done by presidents from those states? Its over--lets just make sure something like that does not happen again.

Skaosiris,

You are right - or at least I agree that it is a little late to do anything about it. If anything can be done at all, it would simply be to demand that Ohio be properly admitted and denied any further representation until it is done legally and right for the purpose of making a political statement and making them re-write the "government approved" history books.

This thread started out as the "Labor Department Advises Employers How to Avoid Paying Overtime" . To that someone stated that "DEAN is the way to go".

My comment about Ohio was meant as a sarcastic remark to note that both parties are in on this whole sham and that there are no limits that these parties and their leadership will go to, to get what they want; and that includes Dean. It really doesn't matter if Dean, Kerry or Bush wins the next election. All of them believe in plutocracy and socialism; and non of them are for the Constitution or pro-American.

NAFTA, FTAA, the overtime adjustment and HB-1 (just to name a few) are all anti-American labor laws. And once the FTAA is in affect, nurses from Mexico and South America will be flooding into America; and guess what that will result in. This is all designed to work in favor of big business and industry - and it is supported by both democrats and republicans.

Thanks for taking note that at least the information and truth about Ohio is important for a historical point of view.
