Good morning!
Congrats on getting a new dog J22!
Stars, I collect and read old fashioned books myself.
I don't think even with young readers that print books are going out of style. I recently read an article about that, but about a third of readers read e-books only, a third read a combination of print and e-books, and the rest of us read print. Best friend will bring his Kindle to the beach and travel but mostly reads print books from the library. When I travel I will pack a print book. One trip I did read an e-book.
One thing I've noticed is that this last year or so I've slowed down buying and using print cookbooks, but use the internet instead to find recipes and sometimes print them out if there's a lot of ingredients.
Yesterday they pulled two nurses and made me go 6:1 in charge after which they neglected to tell me the tech called off. I can't do 6:1 with a tech and not be overwhelmed. It was torture yesterday. My co-worker who had an orientee with her helped me out a lot otherwise I would have drowned. As it was I was there until 8:45 charting as there were some issues.
My girl dog who usually sleeps with me got out of bed and woke me up to be put back in bed. Then later did the same thing. That time I figured it was time to feed them and feed them and then noticed it was 3:50 AM and I was thinking it was about 6AM or 7AM. Naturally we all went back to bed and she stayed in bed after that.
Off today. Will lay low as the beaches will be crowded. No bowling tonight. I guess the team we played bowled on Saturday and we beat them games and they won one.
Hello all!
Yay, I slept well last night! Woke a couple times, but was able to go back to sleep. I have a couple errands to do today. It should *only* be in the 80's today, a nice change from 104! No rain forecast. I have come to prefer my Kindle for reading a book. It is light-weight and I don't have to hold the pages open. It does require a hand for frequent swiping on the screen, to turn the page. But, as I said, it's lighter-weight than a lot of books.
Joe, how disappointing that the muffins came out dry. What kind of cookies and muffins did you bake?
Tweety, what an awful shift! So glad you have today off, but bummer you won't be at the beach, to decompress! Hugs to your dog. ? I do enjoy seeing photos of your cooking endeavors, and the recipes.
Have a good day!
Hiya, hiya, hiya. (did I sound like Arthur Godfrey? How old does that make me?!)
Hot and humid, no rain in the forecast. I just went out to 'feed the livestock' (as hubby refers to it). Yesterday they didn't show up until 7:30 PM! I said they must have had a large Sunday Dinner elsewhere.
Nannie slept late again, and when I got her up she asked, "Why do I sleep so much?" Nannie, you are 93, about to turn 94. I have been told by many of my elderly patients that it is a blessing to be able to sleep a lot and not feel guilty about it: "A Privilege of Age". She just woke up (in her recliner) and reached for the arm of the chair, half raising herself up, and she looked so confused. Hubby asked her what was going on, did she dream about something? She said she was just feeling like she was feeling....and then her sentence faded away and she closed her eyes again, but is still hanging on to the arm of the chair, and frowning. So, we never did find out what she was 'feeling'. She'll wake up in a minute, though, because her right hand is about to relax and drop off the arm of the chair. -------Five minutes of me waiting for it to occur, and she's still hanging on with two fingers. ---Okay, her hand has finally let go and she didn't wake up. As a matter of fact for a few moments she looked like she's passed, except she still has color in her face and her chest occasionally rises very slightly.
No ballgame tonight. The Dodgers won last night, but not by much.
It's a slothful afternoon. Guess who promised me three days ago he'd do the dishes that are in the sink, and who hasn't done them yet. Same old same old. No big deal.
Do have some laundry to do...later, we'll see if I do it!
Hi. It's still cool here, I think 62 was the high, but it's still 87% humidity. That is so weird for this time of year. My tummy woke me up in the night, and has been unsettled most of the day. I thought I had a full slate of things to do, and somehow forgot about Labor Day. So I watched a video on YouTube about how the UAW was formed. I signed up to play online trivia tomorrow. I used to play with dd, but it will be just me. And I signed up for a baking class through the community college. I wanted to take a pasta making class, but it was full, as was the French bistro meal class.
Tweety, good grief, are they trying to drive you into retirement? I hope you are recovered, with help from the doggos.
I go back and forth between books and my Nook E-reader. I do enjoy turning pages, but my hands get tired.
I've been feeling slothful, but I did manage to pull the sheets off the bed and get them washed.
I like that phrase: feeling slothful. ?
I did a couple errands, and dh did his online jam while I was gone. We will finish up Thai food leftovers tonight and watch the second half of a Poirot episode.
No Stars, are the gypsies behaving themselves?? Good you had a quiet day with your *ahem* two patients.
nursej22, sorry to hear your tummy has been bothering you... any idea what it might be?
Will check on y'all later!
It's been a slothful weekend. Honestly I was a bit irritated that we came to a holiday weekend and the kitchen was full of dirty dishes. And I haven't felt so good the last couple of days. My tummy rejected the cheeseburgers or something.
Golden doodles are sweet-looking dogs.
Today I made myself get out to the fabric store to buy fabric for a project I want to do. Thought I'd feel better if I just *did* something but I really didn't. Also stopped at the bookstore for an expensive iced coffee and bought a book that I hope will supply my ghost story for the book club's bonfire near Halloween.
I use my phone to read e-books on the Kindle app a lot. I don't have to get out to the library (just a few blocks away and an easy walk) and I can place holds on things I want to read. I've been reading 2 different novels this week, which I don't usually do.
Gma's latest communications are to go on and on about "50 years in Indiana and 50 years in California..." and when she asks a question she'll say "One year in Indiana?"
One day she looked all agitated at me and spewed out all that word salad then said "You're disgusting". Ain't life fun?
Tweety, that sounds like an awful shift. I'm sorry. Hope you can get some good rest.
Amazingly, the gypsies haven't stayed around, AND my left knee is doing well. I do like to walk without a limp!
Nannie fell asleep once she finished her late breakfast. I woke her up for supper, which she ate all of, and then she fell back to sleep again. Serious sleep in which none of our 'everyday' noises or TV voices are penetrating her ears at all.
I'm going to wake her up and escort her to bed now.
~Done, and done~

Did church and coffee hour yesterday, fairly small crowd due to holiday weekend
Then came back and did the baking. The cookies took longer than expected, as I had forgotten the recipe makes 48 and not 24, and the extra large cookies needed more time to cook. The muffins were easier though a new recipe, although they came out a bit dry
The rest of the day was quieter, exercised and made my reservations for the family reunion next year. Went way off diet although I've pretty much stuck to it the last month or two
Unusual that I have been at least partly remembering my dreams the last few day and they've been positive rather than anxiety dreams. Have been a bit tired in the mornings too, wonder if that's related
Not much planned for today, have birdwatching this morning then will do the cooking for the week, and for lunch today. Will exercise too if my legs aren't tired from all the walking
Will be another warm day in the mid 90s
