Hey guys,
Can a nurse where a labcoat?
I wore one, once. I was getting towards the end of my pregnancy and NOTHING fit me. I wore solid color maternity Tee shirts so I didn't have to buy new scrub tops. I did not want to go out and buy new jackets to wear for only a month or so, so I picked up whatever I could find that fit me at a thrift shop. I found a white Lab coat that fit. The maintenance man accussed me of trying to be a doctor wanna-be. :angryfire Im not really sure if he was joking or not. I did not wear it afterwards. I am far from the pretentious type.
Just an interesting tidbit. In the LTC facility I used to work at, CNAs were not allowed to wear white *at all*, lest we be mistaken for RNs, though I did encounter one CNA that had been working there for awhile that was wearing a white labcoat.. I guess that rule was more of a 'tell you now so you won't, but won't bug you if you decide to anyway' kind of thing, sort of like the no-cell-phones rule. Anyway, that's just for us CNAs, RNs were allowed and some did.

I would hope noone would think that about me. I will wear one because I will be proud to be a nurse.
