I had at one point during my sophmore year for my first degree. Organic I w/Lab, Calculus Based Physicis III w/Lab, Differential Equations, and Thermodynamics for Engineers w/Lab plus band . If I coudl do that and make it through, I know you can do the other two together. Now granted I wasn't working and school was my only job. When I did my nursing pre-reqs the hardest thing I had was AnP I, Micro, and Developmental Psych. I was working around 30 hours give or take an hour.

Why was developmental psych hard? I have that this semester. I was a psych major before, and had reg psych and psych stat and did well in them.
Oh also, do you think haveing good resources will help? I have 2 friends who both work running labs, I know at least one has a masters (I think the other has a bachelors, but not sure that its not her masters)in microbiology, so if I am confused, I can definitely talk to them about it.

Nahhhhh.....for me the course was a writing course. Our grade was made up of 70% papers and writing. Most of that was one large paper at the end of the semester that involved a developmental problem in an age group and we had to relate a theory that we learned about in class to this problem using literature with at least 80% empirical studies in our paper. The tests were easy, you should have no problem with it if you've got a degree in Psych. Realllllly learn what they are teaching you in this class....you will use it A LOT in your nursing courses.
Dont have a degree. it was what i was studying before, though. I guess how hard this course is will relate to who the teacher is!

I have never done, but I know many people who have. If you want to make an A in both it will require a lot of time. My poor friends looked like they were about to pull their hair out by the end of the semester. It was especially tough when major tests fell on the same couple of days, and during finals time.

Yes you can do it, I did it. My 1st or 2nd semester of nursing school(which seems like a million years ago), I had 16 credit hours in one semester. I had Advanced Human Anatomy & Physiology(4 credits), Cell Biology(4 credits), Biochem(4 credits), Inorganic Chem(half of the semester-2 credits), & organic chem(last half of the semester-2 credits). Maintain GOOD time management, don't work too much, & DON'T PROCRASTINATE!
Good luck,

thansk all. During the tiem I would have 2 courses, I would only have 11 hours total, and the other class I am hoping to get as an online course.
Honestly, right now with 3 kids, I have so much tiem to blow. I spend too many hrs a day online and if i spent all that tiem studying instead, I think i could do it.

Last semester I took A&P I, A&P II, intro to psychology, speech, and English Comp II, which added up to a total of 17 semester hours. I ended up dropping A&P I, and did fairly well in everything else (all 'A' grades except a 'B' in A&P II). I also work full time as an LVN.

good luck.. I also have 3 kids (to which includes baseball, homework, volunteering in the classroom, projects, meal planning, remembering that you have a husband, remembering your spirituality and your fitness) you said that it is 11 hours of classroom time..along with that comes about 3 hours of homework time per day per class.. you will have a lot of memorizing, preparing, reading, reviewing.. will your 3 year old be in preschool 5 days a week? if so, then perhaps you have a chance.. (no life, but you have a chance..)
I too wanted to take 2 science courses together, I am glad I didn't.. I remember Tweety saying to enjoy the journey, not to rush through it.. time is going to pass anyway... I had to really evaluate if I wanted to give up so much of my kids (they are only young once) to save a semester.. .. only you can answer that question.. no one can answer that for you...
best wishes on your journey!
The main thign holding me back from taking it slower is that we live in a small house and cant afford to buy a house to properly fit us all until I am working. The longer it takes for me to get to work, the longer we have to shove 5 people, one who will be going on 13 by the time I am out of nursing school, into a 3 br, 1 bath, 1200 sq ft house.
Also of concern is whether or not I can get aid or loans for only 1-2 classes. I am just 2 classes too much to properly work it out, and you need at least 6 hrs in order to get any aid...
sigh.
i thinki am just going to have to take it as it comes.

I think if you're a conscientious student and don't fall behind, you'll do fine. I'm taking 2 lab courses this summer, at the same time (4-credit micro w/lab is 5 wks, 5-credit Chemistry w/lab is 8 wks). If they were both Bio classes I would be doing great, but Chemistry is not my thing. I'm sure I'll end up with an A in micro (lots of work, but also really interesting to me) but I am working my butt off in Chemistry - harder than I ever have in any college class (and I spent 2 years in graduate school!!!) and hope I will be able to maintain my B in that class.
That said, if I were taking the classes in the spring or fall, I think it would be a lot easier, I could definitely handle a third. I do not work outside the home but I have a toddler, so I must do all studying when he's asleep... usually between the hours of 9 p.m. and 1 p.m. (that's as late as I can handle, having to wake up at 6:30!!!!)!
Go for it, and good luck!
