LA student looking for college

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello, I am a student from the new orleans area due to start Charity School of Nursing in January 06. Of course those plans have changed and I have relocated to the stafford tx area. This semester I was taking A & P 1 lecture and lab and I need to find a nursing school. It can be a full 2 yr adn program or an accelerated program because I already have a BS.

I want to add that the people of Texas have been nothing but nice to us since we have been here. I am proud to call Texas my new home and would appreciate any help in finding a new nursing school.:)

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

I am glad to hear you are doing great after what has happened. I am not in Texas, but surely there will be someone in here soon. I just want to wish you the best of luck.

Based on your location in Stafford, TX the 3 nearest schools to you would be

1) Wharton County Community College

2) Houston Community college

3) Cy Fair college in the North Harris district

4) Alvin Community College

5) Houston Baptist University (Private school)

Houston Baptist University would be the closest to Stafford (only a 10 min drive going 59 N) but its a private school and very expensive. All of the other schools will be 45 mins to an hrs drive from Stafford in different directions. Also as per the list of collges and programs on the Texas Nurses association website below, there are no accelerated BSN programs in the greater Houston area.

Best of luck

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

TWU's Houston campus has an accelerated BSN program, as well as an RN-BSN program.

Message from Dean Marcia Hern about hurricane Katrina:

From Texas Woman's University College of Nursing faculty and staff, our hearts and our help go out to all those displaced by hurricane Katrina. If nursing students are interested in talking with us about taking courses in our undergraduate or graduate majors, please contact any of our three associate deans and their staff:

Denton Campus: Dr. Pat Holden-Huchton at 940-898-2401 Dallas Center: Dr. Caryl Mobley at 214-689-6512 Houston Center: Dr. Rebecca Krepper at 713-794-2106

I definitely recommend the TWU program... Im at the Dallas campus and I love it!! We have 5 students from LA who have joined our program and they have all made the adjustment really well... I think the school has even given them books/clinical scrubs/etc. to help them out.

Good luck!!

Hi RahRah,

I realize this is an old post, but I was trying to send you a PM to ask you about your experience with UOPs MBA program and going thru nursing school, but your mailbox is full. Can You PM me?
