Hey Everyone ,
I just received an offer from LA General, I haven't gotten the details pertaining to start date but I believe it will be in April from what I was told during my interview. I want to connect with anybody else that is set to start here keep each other updated!

How long would you say everything took in total from interviewing to now? I heard with Harbor UCLA it's like 2-3 months, but it sounds like you were able to get everything done in about a month at LA General. Congrats BTW! I know some people working at the ED at LA General and you get exposed to a lot there!

Harbor UCLA definitely takes a while somebody I know interviewed with them and they told them it'll be 3 weeks before they find out if they got the job. I did an interview with them the same week as LA general. On the 11th for harbor and 13th for LA general and I've already received my offer letter and live scan so far just waiting on my health screening appointment I did my live scan last Thursday.
Thats super quick! Hopefully you can start within the next month. Yeah, I had a friend that started at Harbor UCLA last year in the NICU and it took close to 3 months to finalize everything. If you do end up taking that job at Harbor, their cohort starts in May (Im guessing that you'd be part of that cohort based on when you interviewed).

Yeah it was really quick!
I interviewed end of January, did live scan same day, then health screening the following week. I am starting next week! Do they like working there ? How is the new grad program? I hear it's 6 months until your alone, that true ?

It was one of my classmates in my RN-BSN program, so I'm not to sure of the timeline for residency. They really liked their coworkers though! They felt supported working on nights. I think she only plans on staying to get her 1 year and then transfer to another hospital though. Any advice for interviews? I plan on getting an interview in the next few weeks once more positions open for other units.

Yes super quick and no I'm not planning on taking the job for harbor I was just keeping my options open. I got hired for NICU which is in the realm of the speciality I wanted, (L&D) So I'm happy with that plus I did have clinicals at LA general and loved it the nurses were very supportive. I love the fact that LA general is moving quicker LOL I am more than ready to start working.

I honestly just answered the questions the best I could. I got one scenario question about SI psych pt. But other than that it was very simple questions, like why the hospital and tell me about yourself! Good luck!

I second this, the questions were very simple I had one scenario question also, it was about prioritization, a baby is crying causing monitor to go off, you have a 8 am med pass due, a mommy needs a pump, and the phone is ringing what would you do first. Very simple scenario!

I did my preceptorship in the NICU! If you enjoy babies, then you'll love working on the unit. You'll get some L&D experience with it since you still cater to the family while prioritizing the baby's needs. You also may get to go to the OR sometimes if the baby is due to come/came out in critical condition and they need the NICU nurse on deck (once you get more experience of course).

I do enjoy babies! So I am definitely excited to start. I enjoyed my clinical rotation when I had NICU. Thank you for that outlook on it! Have you gotten an interview yet?

I was looking towards possibly getting an interview, but I got a really good new grad position at Long Beach Memorial! It's much closer to my house and I did my clinicals there. I really hope that you enjoy the NICU! You'll likely start if not the 16th or March, then either April 1st or 16th. They only start on the 1st and 16th of the month.
