Hello everyone, I am creating this post because I did not find a lot of information on the web regarding this topic. I recently passed the LA County exam for the RN I/RELIEF NURSE position, according to an email that was sent to me with my final score. However I am not sure about what to do to proceed with the possible hiring /interview process. I know that nursing managers are said to call based on whatever Band a person is placed on. With that in mind, does anyone know how long it usually takes for a hiring manager to call(for example if you're placed on BAND I)? Has anyone had experience with this? (I am looking forward to working for LAC+USC) ,Or if anyone can share any suggestions or things I should know I would appreciate it, thank you all.

They usually start calling within a week or 2. You can try calling nursing recruitment and ask which department is hiring and see if you can schedule an interview.
@nalie2, thank you for your response, it has been 9 days since I got my results on email. I am now thinking of waiting this last week and if I do not hear anything from them I will absolutely call. I wonder if they are backed up or not hiring due to Covid.

Hi there! I got my Results Dec 31 and emailed the LACUSC recruiters a week later. I attached my resume, LOR, and exam score. They will then tell you to reach out and call the recruiters office. The person who you will talk to is their clerk/assistant. They are super helpful and will tell you what unit openings they have available for you to interview. At that time, they had ICU, med/surg and 8 other clinic interviews open! Once they set up the interview they will ask you to turn in a cover letter, resume, and certificates. I interviewed last week and got offered the job 2 business days later.
@lilscholar, they are asking for resume, recommendation letters and certificates. Are we allowed to still send the cover letter even if it was not asked for? As for the certificates this includes BLS,ACLS etc?
Absolutely you can still send cover letter! :) and yes those are the certificates they are asking for. ?
@lilscholar, thank you just emailed them! And congratulations on your new job! Do you know anything about their clinics as far as pay being the same for inpatient and outpatient clinics ?or any real differences ?schedule or benefits?
@Badkugo outpatient and inpatient nurses get the same base pay and benefits. Some units get a $50 bonus per paycheck (e.g. jail, ER). Scheduling depends on the unit. Most outpatients are Monday through Friday and some are open Saturdays.
@nalie2, I see online it says it ranges from 82,000-124,000 annually, I tried to break it down making it about $47 hourly for a new grad, would this be accurate ? and thank you for responding . Do you know if the salary goes up if you stay with the county and acquire more experience ?
@Badkugo you will start at the bottom of the pay range unless you have at least 1 year of full time experience. I believe starting pay right now is about $39.50 per hour. Salary goes up annually plus whatever increase our union negotiates for us.
@nalie2, got it thank you! I don't know why I thought it would be at least a little above 40 . In your honest opinion would you say it is worth it in the long term to keep working for county for both clinic and hospital ?
@Badkugo if you plan to retire with county yes. They have good benefits. If you don't plan to stay here then no. Other hospitals pay a lot more!
