LA County College of Nursing & Allied Health Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi. I created this thread for those applying to LA County College of Nursing & Allied Health for the Spring of 2019. The online application opened up today (7/1/18) on their website. Is anyone else having trouble adding a College selection on the Education portion of it? I have also reserved a seat for their information workshop on July 3rd at 4pm. Anyone else attending??

Hi Jessica0812 and Duckman, thank you for the insight. I was accepted into college of the canyon and county, so I am deciding between the two. I must say that college of the canyon sounds like less work (only two lecture days and one 12h clinical day per week). They also seem to have a better support system. However, county is very attractive because of the job opportunity. I am currently pregnant with my second child and I am sure that college of the canyon would me easier to handle with a toddler and a newborn than county.

Hi Heidi,

Congrats in getting into both programs. I was in your shoes last year as well. I got into both County and COC. I have two little ones so I knew COC was my preference since I live out in Santa Clarita and the commute would be challenging. I would have gone the county route if I didn't have children. I am currently in my second semester and while it is challenging, it is doable with little children as long as you have a solid support system. The first semester, you have the first 6 weeks which is everyday, but once you pass that section, you move on to the next class that is two days of lecture and one clinical day. Good luck in making your decision!

Hey I know this is an older thread I’m trying to apply for the Fall 2020 do they give 20 points for having teas higher than 75 or how do we get points for teas ?

I also have a question about the 5 point interview do they calculate your points before the interview and then invite you, I have 80 points before interview. How does the interview process work

Hi

you get extra points for having teas above 75. They review it in your application. As far as interview. That’s new I don’t have any info on that.

Okay thank you, do you happen to know what the point cut off was for spring 2020 I’m trying to apply for Fall 2020 and only have 80 points before interview

Sorry I do not know the cut off. 80 is pretty decent. Below that I would worry

Okay thank you !

Did you guys ask other schools to mail in hard copies of your transcripts or is E-Transcript just as good?

Thank you!

Hello, I know this is an old forum. But I was wondering if anybody can just state whether this school is great? Or if theres any issues? etc... I just got accepted into the Spring 2022 program and im nervous about whats to come. Was wondering how yall are doing so far? and if the program is tough? Also if there is any advice to give, id surely take it. THANK YOU and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving week.

This is a tough but great program. You will learn and do a lot. It’s very do able. If you’re looking for an easy program this is not it. It is tough but fair. Excellent nursing school. I would choose this program over and over

Thanks so much for the response @Duckman I know it will be tough but I feel like im ready to kill it.
