L.A County College of Nursing Fall 2015 Applicants

Published

Hello Everyone.

I decided to create this post because I haven't seen any updated threads that relate to the Fall 2015 applicant pool. I'd love to hear from some of you out there who may have also applied so we can begin communicating with each other any updates, info, thoughts, and feelings as this is such a long and anxious process.

A bit of info about myself, I am currently attending elac, I am done with all my prereqs, this is the second time I am applying. I didn't make the cut last term (spring 2015) because I didn't have the points for speech and political science so I did them over winter, although I still don't think they will count because the grades weren't posted before the deadline!:grumpy: The only thing that i did extra with my time that I had proof for was Volunteering at the County Hospital in the ER, so I'm hoping that counts for something..

I have also applied to LACC, LASC, PCC, Rio Hondo, Citrus, Cerritos, but county is definitely my number 1 choice!

I look forward to hearing from you all soon

hi!! I just finished up my first semester at LA county and I hope I can ease some of your concerns.

As far as the expense goes, LA county encourages everyone to sign a tuition deferment which defers all but $1200 a semester.... I get cal grants that pay for most of my tuition so I get $800 a semester deferred and the rest paid for. I get loans, cal grants, and financial aid and I do not have to worry about expenses while at LA county and it's completely doable to do tuition deferment with financial aid and not have to take out

loans.

As far as intensity goes, the only time I felt stressed out was during finals. In fact there would be days I would not study bc I started to slack off in the end but made B's in all my classes. LA county is known for their intense program, yes, but most of the instructors are county grads and they understand us students. As long as you go in there knowing that it's a different style of learning and testing and you can adapt easily you should have no problem transitioning to LA county. I LOVE this school and am so glad I chose it over the others I was accepted into. I've seen things in clinical that they only write about in textbooks.. The learning experience you get here is phenomenal compared to other schools who take their students to private hospitals like cedars or Ucla

It's tough but you won't regret it!!!

I totally agree with Jenn, we are classmates and I definitely made the right choice.

I too still haven't heard anything, hoping the mail/email is just going slow!

If you still haven't heard anything, don't give up hope. You will always have people who decide to go elsewhere. They will call the next in line to take the seat.

Hi everybody, I just got an acceptance phonecall from LACC half an hour ago. (I have to decide for tomorrow, if I take the place or not - then they give it to somebody else...)...OMG what to do? I would really prefer county, but nothing back from them yet.... Any of you have an idea about their cut score for fall? I am afraid to refuse it, because what if I'll not get into the country?? oh...what to do? Also, any of you ever heard about somebody, who has changed his/her mind later, and after accepted a place, later cancelled it? (I am just wondering...if I could change it later, depending of my acceptance to the country? or is it really unethical?

No people change their minds all the time. Hope you went with your heart.

So I've decided to take a part time position at my current job. 20 -25 hours a week. I'm nervous but I'm sure I can manage. I like to think I have descent time managing skills. Thank you for your response! I look forward to meeting all of the new students and returning students. :)

Specializes in CVICU.

Hopefully orientation didn't scare you guys too much :p

Excited for tomorrow???

Hey there so I applied to County for Spring 2017 for Generic BSN and I've found out that someone has received a questionnaire about a week and a half ago from the program and I'm just wondering if it's bad that I haven't received anything yet. Did everyone who get accepted get a questionnaire?
