Hello Everyone.
I decided to create this post because I haven't seen any updated threads that relate to the Fall 2015 applicant pool. I'd love to hear from some of you out there who may have also applied so we can begin communicating with each other any updates, info, thoughts, and feelings as this is such a long and anxious process.
A bit of info about myself, I am currently attending elac, I am done with all my prereqs, this is the second time I am applying. I didn't make the cut last term (spring 2015) because I didn't have the points for speech and political science so I did them over winter, although I still don't think they will count because the grades weren't posted before the deadline! The only thing that i did extra with my time that I had proof for was Volunteering at the County Hospital in the ER, so I'm hoping that counts for something..
I have also applied to LACC, LASC, PCC, Rio Hondo, Citrus, Cerritos, but county is definitely my number 1 choice!
I look forward to hearing from you all soon
So I was accepted at ELAC a while back to start on summer 2015 and I went along with everything as I did not know if La County would accept me. I started to prepare for ELAC since their classes start on the 15th of June.
But, I got the email on the 4th from county and I am super nervous now because I know that it is such an honor to get accepted there.
I am only concern about the expense and scared about the intensity of county.
Any advice anyone? the passing rate in county is better for NCLEX but I wonder if this is because they make it extra difficult to weed out the weak from the beginning. The only clinical experience I have is from being a an intern at St. Francis Medical Center (CCE Program).
Exited, Nervous, scared

hi!! I just finished up my first semester at LA county and I hope I can ease some of your concerns.
As far as the expense goes, LA county encourages everyone to sign a tuition deferment which defers all but $1200 a semester.... I get cal grants that pay for most of my tuition so I get $800 a semester deferred and the rest paid for. I get loans, cal grants, and financial aid and I do not have to worry about expenses while at LA county and it's completely doable to do tuition deferment with financial aid and not have to take out
loans.
As far as intensity goes, the only time I felt stressed out was during finals. In fact there would be days I would not study bc I started to slack off in the end but made B's in all my classes. LA county is known for their intense program, yes, but most of the instructors are county grads and they understand us students. As long as you go in there knowing that it's a different style of learning and testing and you can adapt easily you should have no problem transitioning to LA county. I LOVE this school and am so glad I chose it over the others I was accepted into. I've seen things in clinical that they only write about in textbooks.. The learning experience you get here is phenomenal compared to other schools who take their students to private hospitals like cedars or Ucla
It's tough but you won't regret it!!!

Thank you so much for the advice, I think I am leaning towards county as it seems it will prepare me more. Any reading material you would suggest to prep me for pharmacology or the classes in general, I really want to do well and not become suicidal .
