KU Nursing Application with low GPA

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello all!

So I am writing to see if anyone can give me any advice here! I began school in fall 2016 as a premed student, and did well that year and maintained a 3.3 GPA. However, I got hit with depression really hard and ended up withdrawing from almost all of my classes first semester and failed all of them second semester. I then took a semester off and am back in school doing well! However, my current GPA is around a 2.0, with 78 credits. I just decided to switch to Pre Nursing, and intend to do as well as I can in all of the courses, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if there will even be a chance I get accepted. If I get all A’s, my GPA will be about a 2.5. Will it make a difference that I was going through a medical issue, and that it was unrelated to my major? Or do I need to kind of give up on getting into KU’s program, at least in the near future? Any help, tips, comments, anything is so appreciated!!
