KSU accelerated RN program Spring 2012

Published

Ok, so I've kind of looked around the site, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I applied to the KSU accelerated nursing program for the Spring of 2012. Our applications, TEAS score, etc. already had to be turned in by May 31st. I was curious to know about how long they take to get back to you to let you know if you made it to the second round. I've got a 3.2 GPA right now, and I graduate from UGA in December with a BS in Psychology. I made a 91.3% overall score on the TEAS V. Does anyone have any idea about my chances of getting in? I took the TEAS without even taking A&P at all, but I'm taking it right now. Any advice if I do make it to the second round? I am CPR/First Aid certified and I have my CNA. Also, if anybody needs any advice about the TEAS, I'd be happy to answer some questions and tell you what I thought of it.

Thanks!

Kennesaw's calendar says early registration is November 7- December 5. I think it depends on your time slot based on the number of hours you have taken at Kennesaw as to when you can start registering during that time. I know that if you are new to Kennesaw for the Spring then you can only register during final registration January 4-5 and then according to the calendar you can drop/add the first week of school. I believe I read somewhere that if you attend orientation as a new student you a get a chance to register at orientation, a little earlier than the final registration time slot. I'm not completely sure that all of this is right, but based on the calendar and stuff I have read I think it is how everything works.

You will be able to register at orientation. You can also register as soon as your time ticket opens. If you don't get a class for some reason, don't worry. The nursing program is structured such that traditional students take Holistic, Health Assessment and Pathophysiology the first semester, and accelerated students take an additional class which is Nursing Research. You will get into all of your classes, even if it requires an overload. They have enough seats in each class to accommodate the incoming students. So, don't panic. You'll get a spot in all of your classes. :)

Hey guys,

I hope its alright that I ask here since its a bit off topic but I'm looking to live at one of the apartments nearby campus and was wondering if its a safe area in general, particularly those near the nursing building. Any thoughts/suggestions as to good areas would be much appreciated! =)

have you guys noticed that Pathophysiology is not on class schedule yet...?

Pathophysiology is a biology course. It is listed under BIOL 3317 instead of under the nursing section. The section is still closed, but the day and time are up. :)

@gtqueen,yes I know that but the class is close so I thot its probably not up yet. So the time on the closed one is gonna be the actual time when it opens up?

proms2009,

The Pathophysiology class this semester was at the same time, Tuesdays 1:00-3:45. So, I doubt it will change. I don't know when you all register, but you will definitely get all of your classes. I know I was surprised by registration during my first nursing semester because most of them were closed, and I was so used to having to get registered before the class ran out of open spots. However, with nursing school, you will get registered for all of your classes, even if that means an override. So, definitely don't worry about not getting signed up for a class. That won't happen. They bring in only the amount of students that they can fit in the classes you must take each semester.

@gtqueen ok great! Thank you :)

Does anyone know if they have started pulling from the standby list? If we are pulled, does the nursing department contact us via phone, email, or mail a letter?

I'm curious because I was put on the standby list and wanted to find out if anyone knew someone who declined....

@gtqueen thanks for the reassurance with registering for classes. I know I have to register later as a transfer student so it is nice to know we don't have to worry about getting into the classes we need.

@proms2009 did you receive the email last week about registering for classes? The email describes how patho is listed as a closed section, but we are already given an override and will be able to register still.

@SeaGreen8 No I didnt receive the email. Is this something I should worry about since they will be communicating with us via email ? Uh men!.:banghead:

@proms2009 Are you in accelerated or traditional? That might make a difference.
