KNAP and Sponsorship during COVID

Hello all. This can be a daunting process in the best of times but COVID is certainly making some of the requirements more difficult, one of which being finding a sponsor which is a requirement in the first 90 days of the 3 year program. Meetings are via Zoom and I would feel most comfortable being sponsored by another nurse. Does anyone have any advice or is anyone a sponsor in Kansas?

On Tuesday nights at 8pm EST on the website Intherooms.com there is a web based meeting called "Nurses Helping Nurses"  There are nurses from many states on the meeting all in recovery.   You can maybe ask during that meeting if there is someone there in Kansas willing to sponsor you, or even someone willing to be a temporary sponsor until you find a sponsor. Good luck!

Lionrock Recovery has a “Recovery Room for Nurses” AA meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays that is very welcoming and you could almost certainly find a sponsor there. It’s a fairly small group of less than 20 typically, sometimes closer to 10. Just Google “Lionrock Recovery AA meetings” and take a look at their schedule. Meetings are hosted on Zoom.

I just wanted to report back that I did try the Lionrock Recovery group and it was very welcoming and everyone was very kind. If anyone else is struggling with finding a good group, you might check this one out. Thank you to the nurse above who recommended it!

I’m one of the Lionrock hosts and I’m very happy to hear you had a good experience!  Please keep coming back!
