RNinRecovery*Help!
OP, first of all congratulations on your recovery progress! That is first and foremost. Secondly, people go into monitoring programs for all sorts of reasons (some legitimate on the part of the Board and some not). I am in a monitoring program for an old documentation error but this experience has completely opened my eyes to the bravery and strength of nurses in recovery. How one would actually manage to recover as an addict while dealing with the board stipulations and everything it does to your life is beyond me so I truly view you as a hero. I also have social anxiety and what helped me was joining a supportive group for nurses where I could share about my mental health recovery and not be gaslit or shamed for my actual struggles. If you ever feel the urge, Lionrock Recovery online has a Tuesday and Thursday group for nurses only going through recovery programs and they are the sweetest, kindest, most supportive peers I could ask for. You are certainly welcome to join us anytime.

I'm Tired & Weary, Why is This Profession So Cut Throat?
Here's the thing, my beautiful friend. You are going to be an amazing nurse and the only way to fulfill that destiny is to keep moving forward despite the obstacles. You will be in a rare position, as those of us who have experienced these programs are, to empathize with certain populations of patients that too often receive far too little empathy or understanding. You will be able to motivate the fighter in your patients to push through because you know what it is to push through. It is so hard to look at the mountain before us and think how can I climb this? Just take each next right step. You are where you are meant to be and I believe in you.

Accused of diversion
I was falsely accused by the board in Kansas with negative drug screens, OIG case dismissal, and multiple evaluators on my side but I did not have an attorney and honestly, that's what it boils down to. If you can afford justice, its on the menu, otherwise it doesn't matter that you've never taken an unprescribed drug in your life. They will do everything they can to tie you into a program for $. Stick with your attorney and do whatever they recommend. It will be the best money you've ever spent. But make sure they are experienced with these kinds of cases.

NUANCE pre-hire exam for CDI
Hello, all. I am trying to prepare for the NUANCE pre-hire exam for a potential clinical document improvement specialist position that would be a new role for me. I am having a difficult time finding anything about the exam and how to adequately prepare. Can any CDI nurses shed some light or offer any advice? It would be so very appreciated!

KNAP and Sponsorship during COVID
I just wanted to report back that I did try the Lionrock Recovery group and it was very welcoming and everyone was very kind. If anyone else is struggling with finding a good group, you might check this one out. Thank you to the nurse above who recommended it!

KNAP and Sponsorship during COVID
Hello all. This can be a daunting process in the best of times but COVID is certainly making some of the requirements more difficult, one of which being finding a sponsor which is a requirement in the first 90 days of the 3 year program. Meetings are via Zoom and I would feel most comfortable being sponsored by another nurse. Does anyone have any advice or is anyone a sponsor in Kansas?
