You are right. Kindred has a bunch of LTC facilities, LTAC hospitals, transitional rehab centers, and anything else they can acquire to make fast cash.

My Father passed away at a Kindred "Hospital". It could have very well been that he was going to die anyway, but I can't be sure that the care he received wasn't the cause of his demise. I have to say the nurses he had on the "ICU" side of things were amazing. They kept in touch with me and called me in when the end was near. They let me have all of the time I needed once he passed and were there to support me. I wouldn't ever send another relative there, but the only other "rehab" type facility in my area isn't much better. I worked at the other one and quit not to long into my time there. That place was also literally a death trap.

Hello all,

i might be a little behind with this post but I'm sure glad I found this.

I worked as a CNA for kindred hospital is Las Vegas. I won't say which particular one or what nurses were involved. I was hired on for a night shift position. During my interview with the DON, she asked me if I liked Filipino people. I responded with, "I don't have a problem with them".

She responds with "well, a lot of them work here and they probably won't help you out at all on the floor".

Turns out, she was right.

Worst job job ive ever had. A lot of back stabbing. One CNA denied a patient food because it was too late for him to eat (10:30pm) but the patient was taking steroids to increase appetite.

The same CNA was assisting one of my patients from the bed to the commode. While I was walking up to the room, I could hear her yelling at my patient, "you're acting like a 12 year old, why can't you walk".

I had informed the nurses and one of them told me that she's gone to the "higher ups" but they turn a blind eye.

I would come back from a four day weekend and other CNAS would be glad I was back. I'm a team player and will help when I'm asked. The other CNAS would disappear, throw a fit if you asked for help, or sit for 20 minutes not answering call lights.

I also had another patient who would ask for ice cream. I told him I would ask his nurse if it was okay for him to have it this late and I would be back.

He responds with "that's what they all say and never come bAck"

never have I seen someone so happy that I kept up a promise.

Granted, we all get busy. We all get overwhelmed.

After I reported the incident with the CNA yelling at my patient, I was suspended from work a day later and then fired for " falsifying" my time cards and charting.

Beware with any kindred hospitals in the Las Vegas area.

I did a clinical rotation for my LPN - RN program. It was awful. Understaffed and mean employees that went out of their way to NOT be helpful. It was so bad that at one point my clinical instructor instructed us to give report and pulled us from the floor early and we never went back.
