They do hire new grads.
My commute was 1hour and 15 minutes 7a-7p orientation and after that I would have been 1p-1a, but resigned after 60 days because, it was just too overwhelming for me, I was drained by the end of the day. They only hire for FLEX ( all shifts) meaning you have no say. The starting pay for a new grad $24.92, I worked in the ER. They were very supportive and a good place to gain experience. I hear that they have a low retention rate most new hires work less than one year. Down side, The pay is not worth it atleast for me because, my cost of living in central NJ is more than South jersey.
I now work in a Sub acute facility 8hour shift and like it alot 30min.
Good luck KMC is a good place to gain experience if that's what you are looking for, staff has it's good and has it's mean and nasty, unfortunately that's everywhere.

I worked there in the ER and it is a good place to learn, but left because they wouldn't accomodate my school schedule. Transferred to Community and work there part time. However, to gain experience, Kimball is definately better, slower pace, fewer patients. Very supportive to RN's. Generous benefit package. Lots of little perks, has a homey feeling to the place. I would go back after I get my RN. Pay is low, however. South Jersey is not known to pay well.

Does anyone work for Kimball in Lakewood, any thoughts on the place? Transferring from NY to NJ and was interested in the facility, primarily maternal child. Anyone know the RN salary?

if you have an opportunity to go elsewhere, do it.
Very supportive to RN's. Generous benefit package. Lots of little perks, has a homey feeling to the place...
I did not find this to be true at Kimball. They're not supportive and the benefits are not that good (you can only use their doctors).
I'd go elsewhere if possible.
Thanks for the response NICU RN, this post was for my sister in law, who was also a nicu nurse for 15 yrs, she ended up going with visiting nurse but thanks again.
I wish I had been as smart as your sister... I'm trying to get out of there!

Forget it....they work the nurses like DOGS.....never enough CNA staff on the units. A sleepy little place, if you dare...but most people can do better than Kimball Hospital. Plus, word has it they are "going under" financially, and might be taken over by another system.

Well, unfortunately thats what happens to places that treat their nurses like doo-doo .They begin to lose financially and go under.
What you put out you receive in return.
Unhappy nurses also cannot deliver care of excellence which reflects in patient satisfaction surveys
Patients now a days are savy consumers and WILL go elsewhere .
This impacts the hospital drastically.
I once knew of a hospital in WNY where the nurse manager was horrid to her nurses. Ten nurses quit in one day. They had to close hospital beds. it was a smaller hospital and it impacted the hospital negatively in all ways including financial. The Hospital closed.:uhoh21:
