Hi, I work at one of the hospitals of St. Barnabas Health Care System. I think it's a great place to start. They offer extensive training, especially for new grads. They have 2 weeks in the classroom and then about 8-12 weeks on the floor, depending on which unit. They also have nurse educators who check in on you and determine if you need less/more training. Where in Jersey do you live? They have hospitals in North, Central and Southern Jersey. Good luck.

Hi, it depends what area of Jersey you work in. The northern parts (Newark, Hackensack) start around $27-30/hr depending on shift and experience. If you go towards Southern Jersey, the pay is less...usually around $22-24/hr. Hope this info helps. :0

Hi, I don't know if this will help, but I hope it will. I work as a telemetry nurse in a heart hospital and they had patient a year ago with almost the same problem. Just gave birth to her 3rd child and was extremely fatigued. Doctors blew it off, saying exactly what you said they said to your daughter...it's completely normal. Well, it turns out that she developed cardiomyopathy post-partum, which was the cause of the fatigue. Her story was a different..a few other symptoms, but she wound up in the hospital for months. I don't mean to scare you, just want to make sure your daughter insists of further tests. Have her see a cardiologist to rule any cardiac problems. Good luck. Let me know what happens.

Sorry, I am not familiar with those schools. I do know that if you call any of them they have to tell you what the last few years pass rates were. I just graduated from St. Vincent's in Staten Island. They hada 88% pass rate. My class had 46 graduates and only 2 or 3 failed. GOod luck.

I understand how you feel. I am in the same boat. I am a new graduate, had six weeks orientation then on my first night shift alone I had to take 12 patients. I told my manager I couldn't handle it but they didn't care. There is a nursing shortage and alot of patients. I stayed at that job for 5 months and now have a new job where I have 5-6 patients. It's great that you want to be an RN due to the shortage, but being a nurse is not just a job. Don't do it for the money. It is who you are...I don't know about everyone else, but my life revolves around being a nurse. You have to want dedicate your life to helping people. That means working 14 hour days/nights, working holidays, getting hit/screamed at by patients. It is a very demanding career not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Good luck. Hi, $25 is average...I make $28/hour for days and $30 for nights in NY.

Wow, I think a nurse with that much experience deserves ALOT more than $23/hour. I am a new grad working nights in Med-Surg and I make $30.75 an hour. We need experienced nurses where I work. Tell her to come to New York. :)

The area is pretty nice..expensive though. It is in Park Slope.

Hi, I live in NY. I work at St. Vincent's. I have several friends that work at SIUH. IT is a great hospital to work at. The pay is good and the patient-nurse ratio is excellent. They also hire new RN's into specialties.The only reason I didn't go there to work is because they mainly have 8 hr shifts and I prefer 12.
