Hello! :)
I just wanted to state an issue that my sister had.
My sister had such bad luck when it comes to nursing school. When she got accepted she was the most excited that I have ever seen her. Too bad that, that in her old school they made the mistake of giving her the wrong catalog and she basically had to take all new classes because the new one did not pertain the classes she had completed. When this happened, she moved out of town and entered a nursing academy at a university. She was in a lot of nursing organizations and her professor always told her she was amazing in clinical (even saved a patient's life after noticing a nurse was going to give her the wrong medication). On the end of her nursing class she was completely stressed out in passing a test. She focused so much on that test and not on the other one. Well the test she was stressed about, she got an A but it was the other test, that she failed. She ended up being kicked out of nursing school by HALF a point. She still graduated school with a Psychology Bachelors because she was taken them as elective, because she thought they were "easy" and "interesting". But I know nursing is her passion. Right now, the university is no longer accepting nursing students that got kicked out back.
Also wanted to add that she needs two more semesters.
Anyone have any suggestions on what she could? Any advise? Did you go through something familiar?

The solution to a shortage is not to lower the requirements for minimum competency.
Nursing programs have these policies for a reason, and they don't take it lightly as it can impact their accreditation.
Yeah, I get that. It still seems ridiculous to fail someone that was above average in clinical because less than a point in theory was missed. "Sorry you're grandma fell and broke her hip. We would have more staff, but some *** didn't know which had higher protein content, the yogurt or the cottage cheese.”
If the "friend" doesn't meet the standards and is kicked out that is on the person who didn't pass. Excuses mean nothing. As an RN if someone makes a med error it won't matter if they are "stressed". I am not buying the "saved a patients life from getting the wrong medication". Huh? Once one thing is over the top dramatic I don't buy much else. Like the "failed by half point and was kicked out". But I mean if someone is kicked out then I guess they either find a school that will accept them or a different career that is less stress.
