Help with NKY schools

U.S.A. Kentucky

Published

Hi, I am moving to Northern Kentucky in March 09 and am at a loss. I had planned on going to Christ School of Nursing, but I doubt I'l meet the January 15th deadline to enter my transcripts. [i'm redoing my biology and chemistry classes through Geneva College and am only halfway through with the modules. :(]

I was looking at some other colleges, but don't know how they're looked upon. Is Beckfield a good school? Do hospitals look highly at their graduates? That college wasn't there when I lived there 6 yrs ago so I know nothing about it.

What about Cincinnati State?

Gateway is out for me. They directly told me I would not get in due to previous grades.

I need some help before I get back there. TIA.

Cincinnati state has a 3 year waiting list to get into their program. You will run out of classes to take while waiting to get in. Beckfield has an ok rep. here in nky. I am currently at Brown mackie and love it. I will have my LPN by january with no wait list at all. Hope this helps a little bit.

I would reccoment Northern Kentucky University. I don't believe that there is a waiting list right now. Stay away from the colleges that are not yet accredited like Honduras. Hope this helps.

I was wondering about NKUs waiting lists. I've heard that they do have a waiting list. Where are you getting this info. A friend of mine left NKU about 6 months ago because they were telling her it that she would have to take other classes for a year while waiting to get into the nursing program. That definitely isn't cheap, taking classes that don't even have anything to do with your degree.

I know that Beckfield has a full articulation agreement with NKU...complete the 2yr RN program at Beckfield(ASN), and all of your credits will transfer to NKU where you can get your BSN.

You also have the option of completing a 3 semester online program for a BSN from NKU. So far, I think I'll be going for the online BSN because I'll want to start working as soon as I pass the NCLEX.

I just learned about all of this at the Beckfield orientation for the April '09 RN students.
