  1. I'm going by you right now. It kind of fits better anyways, because I am moving from California on March 6th and getting into NKY the next week so it will all be rushed for me otherwise. I'm planning on taking E.Comp II, Intro to Psych, Developmental Psych (which is psy 220) and something else. I was planning on taking healthcare ethics but we'll see about that. Its just a philosophy class so I don't know what they think of that. I hear ya on the student loans though. I have over $15000 already but thankfully thats it for me. I'm paying outright this summer and then after August I'll be using the Montgomery GI Bill so thankfully I won't have to deal with financial aid anymore. Good luck on yours! I hope you can get it.
  2. I took the ACT my junior year, wayyy back in 97. so that probably won't work.
  3. gotcha. Well I decided to go back to NKU starting in May and knock out a bunch of classes (gen ed) over the summer. Most of mine are from criminal justice, which was my major so they won't cross over. Thank you for letting me know. Atleast now i can take the time to focus on that and my financial aid.
  4. So you have to retake your ACT even if you have the 30 credit hours? Maybe we all misunderstood each other on the phone. I told him I'm 29 and that I have 47 credit hours, etc and that seemed fine. I may be taking the rest of my gen eds at NKU this summer too then if thats the case. I know they're offering Health Care Ethics, Engl. Comp II and the 2 psychology classes from May until Aug so I might do that so I can get everythign sqyared away and retake the ACT, I guess.
  5. I talked to them the other day and have a meeting/interview on Mon March 16th (thats when I'll be back in the area). I might get lucky and be selected to start in April.
  6. this is what I used when I was on the ambulance. Either one works great!
  7. the CAA grant is for LVN though.
  8. Hi. I was all set to go to KAplan, then Maric but after talking to several charge nurses, nursing recruiters and nursing school instructors decided against it. I am a military wife too so I was blinded by the NO WAIT LIST but while that is great, the school isn't regionally accredited. I checked with quite a few universities, both in San Diego and in other states and NOTHING from Kaplan/Maric would transfer. I've been doing the nursing school go round in San Diego for 5 yrs so if any of you military spouses have questions, please ask. Remember there is a CAA grant that you get if your spouse if at certain bases. I have that info too. Good luck! I wish you all the best!
  9. One other question. How much did Beckfield cost? I have my english. I'm pretty sure it will seem cheap, as I was just quoted $50,000 for a 2 yr ADN program out here in San Diego.
  10. My mom just finished her classes at Southwestern on the 23rd of Dec and she said the SAME exact thing. To all of the other posters: THANK YOU very much!! I'm getting ready to move back to NKY in early March when my husband transfers overseas and I didn't know much about Beckfield. I was so set on Christ but just posted a thread asking about Beckfield as well. This made my decision! Its so hard doing this from 2500 miles away, especially when the school wasn't around when I lived there last. Again, thank you VERY much!! ONE question though: What are the requirements to get in? Any testing? What classes do you have to have? Christ told me to take my hs level biology and chemistry through nursingabc.com. Thats what I am doing right now, just won't get done by Jan 15th. Its fully accredited through Geneva College in PA. Would this be something that is required? I emailed Beckfield in early December asking questions but no one has responded, maybe b/c I'm in San Diego. :uhoh21:
  11. Hi, I am moving to Northern Kentucky in March 09 and am at a loss. I had planned on going to Christ School of Nursing, but I doubt I'l meet the January 15th deadline to enter my transcripts. [i'm redoing my biology and chemistry classes through Geneva College and am only halfway through with the modules. ] I was looking at some other colleges, but don't know how they're looked upon. Is Beckfield a good school? Do hospitals look highly at their graduates? That college wasn't there when I lived there 6 yrs ago so I know nothing about it. What about Cincinnati State? Gateway is out for me. They directly told me I would not get in due to previous grades. I need some help before I get back there. TIA.
  12. Miss Gwen, have you thought about doing a bachelors to BSN program? NKU offers it. IMO it'd be a better option for you. http://www.nku.edu/%7Enhp/Nursing/html/2ndBSN/2ndDegree.htm
  13. i'm moving from san diego back to the cincinnati area later this year. believe me, i can't wait! san diego is paradise, but the waiting lists for nursing programs is a nightmare! i've been quoted as long as 5 years. my husband is in the military so i could have gone to his next duty station to finish up, but i really like the cincinnati area. i have a cousin and several friends that have gone through christ college of nursing, a couple are in the program now and they love it. i will personally live in northern kentucky, where my family lives so i'm not right in the city. good luck with your decision.
