  1. I was wondering about NKUs waiting lists. I've heard that they do have a waiting list. Where are you getting this info. A friend of mine left NKU about 6 months ago because they were telling her it that she would have to take other classes for a year while waiting to get into the nursing program. That definitely isn't cheap, taking classes that don't even have anything to do with your degree.
  2. So did you talk to them again to clarify? It's misleading, because all of their literature says that they will accept college experience for entrance. Notice it doesn't say exactly what they are looking for though. I am going to be leaving my job on April 1st due to a buyout and I am hoping to start class at NKU in May. Melissa told me not to take any nursing, A & P, or math classes, because they won't transfer. She said you could take an A & P class, but beckfield would still make you test out of it. So she recommended Eng. comp II, or an Intro to Psych class in the meantime. I'm not sure if you have seen yet, but private lending firms that generally provide loans to students are drying up right now. Out of 40 something of the main vendors, only around 18 are currently offering loans due to the economy. I've got my fingers crossed, because I will need a private loan for living expenses and the tuition at NKU. I can't use financial aid at NKU since I will be a transient student from my current school.
  3. Keep in mind that you don't have to get up to 30 semester credit hours of Gen Eds if you have an ACT score within the past 5 years that has a cumulative score of an 18 or better. I am going to retake the ACT in April, then I am going to take Eng. Comp. II and an Intro to Psych class this summer at NKU.
  4. Sorry if I confused you. Beckfield will accept either an ACT score of an 18 within the past 5 years, or you must have at least 30 semester credit hours of general academics made up of English, Math, Psych, Soc, and History. My problem is that I have 60 credits, but only 15 of which are made up of general academics. This is why they are making me retake the ACT. I just think that it's funny how the ACT is a test designed to show that you have the aptitude to do well in college and I am in college, on the Dean's List with a 3.85, yet I have to go back and take the ACT again. Oh well, it's policy I guess. What can you do?
  5. Well, that's good news. It looks like I will be shooting for the October class now. They weren't sure if I they were going to give me enough transfer credits and eventually they decided on "no." I am just shy of an associates degree and on the Dean's List at my current University, but I do not have 30 semester credit hours of general academics which is what they want for a transfer student. Unfortunately they took so long to decided that I missed the late registration for the ACT which I will have to retake since mine is over 10 years old. I could try to show up as an alternate for the ACT, but the classes in my area almost always fill up. So from here I will be taking the ACT in April now and them maybe I will take another English class and maybe and Intro to Psychology over at NKU over the summer. Well, good luck and I hope you make the April class.
  6. Was there a waiting list for those of you at Good Sam? I am applying to Beckfield in Florence, but it looks like I won't be able to make there April class therefor I will be looking at October. I would like to hear more about Good Sam though. It seems to be a little cheaper and it looks like they have a class starting in August.
  7. Funny you should ask. Melissa also called me today, but I was flying from Tampa to Cincinnati today and missed the call. She called me on Friday to let me know that she received my transcripts, but that she hadn't had a chance to review them yet and that she would get back to me today. Hopefully we will touch base tomorrow. Let me know when you hear something. If they like your transcripts I believe they call you in for an interview, but I am not exactly sure.
  8. I applied to Beckfield about two weeks ago in hope of getting accepted for the April 09 term. As of yet I haven't heard anything. Tim Tolliver (the admissions rep) told everyone that attended the information session that he suspected that class would fill up by the beginning of February. Does anyone who attends have an idea how long it takes from when you apply to when you may get an interview? Also, if accepted do you have any suggestions as to things I can study before April to help prepare? I plan to attend a CNA class at St. Elizabeth in March so if I choose to work during the program I may have a little help getting a job.
  9. I am going to talk to the financial aid folks tomorrow. I am planning on carrying a part time job to fill in the gaps so we'll see. Where is DCCCD?
  10. I know there are a few common grants here in Kentucky through the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority. I have been an airline pilot for a number of years now, so I know that this type of school will require a great deal of my time and I don't really want to impede that with to much time at work.
  11. I am 29 years old and I am thinking of starting an RN degree in Northern Kentucky. I currently work a full time job, but I will have to give that up to go to school full time. Just curious if anyone in a career change has added room and board to their financial aid to compensate for going to a part time job. I think I will need room and board to pay my rent. The school I am looking into is Beckfield College in Northern Kentucky.
