EKU ADN 2014 - Now I wait..

U.S.A. Kentucky

Published

I sent in my application two weeks ago for the ADN program at EKU that starts in the Spring of 2014.

I think my chances of getting in are pretty high. I had A's in all of my pre reqs and scored a 90% overall on the HESI A2. I'm just nervous about the cutoff for the points system they use for admittance.

The waiting is the hardest part as well as finding out that EKU is one of the TOUGHEST Nursing Programs to get through. On the up side, I hear that graduates from EKU are sought after due to the programs intensity level. I also met a recent EKU grad who said he didn't even study for the boards to get his license and still passed because it was drilled so hard into his head in school.

I just hope I get my letter soon. I'm a nervous wreck and I try not to think about it but I hope I get in!

They're really good about getting the letters out quickly, I got mine about 2-3 weeks after the deadline, so I hope yours gets to you that quickly too. I wish you so much luck! I do advise that if you get in, you take some time to just relax and enjoy yourself before the semester starts. It's pretty rigorous but the teachers are GREAT and want to help you succeed. I'm 1/2way through first semester and have the second test tomorrow. :)

Feel free to send me a message anytime if you have any questions about it all!

It's so good to hear from someone in the program already. Is it as hard as everyone says it is? I'm so nervous. It seems as if I've only heard horror stories. I'd definitely love to stay in contact with you. I know it would be great to have someone to talk to that's already been through the first semester. How is the NUR 114 class set up? How many days do you go?

It's not horrible at all! The teachers really want you to succeed and they really explain things well. I have zero complaints about this program and, like you, had heard a lot of horror stories! It's hard, but not impossible, and they provide you with all of the tools you need to succeed-I do recommend getting to know some people and starting a study group, even if it's just you and one other person it really helps to have someone to study with.

NUR 114 is clinical, lab, and lecture. You have class 2x/week (ours is Monday/Wednesday) if it stays on the same schedule as it is right now and lab is on one of those days (Monday for my class). This semester, there are clinical groups on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I personally chose to have my clinical on Wednesdays so that I only had to do anything structured on Monday/Wednesday but the people in the other clinical groups really enjoy being able to sleep in on Wednesdays.

Hey there. I got my acceptance letter on October 18. Have you heard word yet? Spring 2014 the schedule is Tues/thurs for lecture. I still have one more vaccine to submit and then I will be able to register for NUR 114

I got accepted to the 2nd degree Fall 2014 early due to military program needs. I am also trying to make friends that are starting with me and have already started. I need to prepare for that dosage test, I suck at math. I am a airforce medic so my clinical skills are ready but the testing part needs work. I hear they post help on the blackboard I would really like to get that info ahead of time. Please let me know what you hear.
