Kentucky Board KARE

Published

Hi there,

I just wanted to start a thread for anyone who is in the Kentucky Board of Nursing's KARE program. I thought this would be a good place to share/exchange info and lend some support to one another! :angrybird12:

Where is everyone working? I've heard dialysis or behavioral health from my counsellor but I cant seem to land a job anywhere. Had a ton of interviews with hospitals dialysis recovery centers LTC.....Im having no luck at all. My license is active but the disciplinary action does show when searched—so embarrassing! Give me your suggestions please 😞

I'm currently in dialysis! I completed KARE last August but they hired me when I was just 6 months into it. I'm the clinical manager now and I know we would hire you! Where are you located?

I was first hired on in Home Health and got promoted to Regional Educator after about 6 months. I only stayed about a year total because the working environment was terrible. I work for a "second chance agency" now. We're a non profit focused on housing. I'm the Street Outreach Nurse. I don't know how one finds an agency that is labeled "second chance agency" but it's a vibe if you can find one. They hire people with colorful pasts if they can help it. I love it here. They hired me toward the end of my monitoring. I wasn't offered KARE, and only had a year of monitoring so it'll show up forever. I hope I can just work here until I die because the job search is so awful for us. Just keep applying. Someone will give you a chance, I promise!

Went through entire interview process with them and everything was great, let them know about the program and restrictions up front, and then was denied later by HR saying they couldn't accommodate the restrictions of the program. Which is odd because I currently have very few work restrictions, and certainly none that would prevent me from working in a dialysis clinic 🤷‍♂️

I've never heard of this happening, I'm sorry! At least in my area we don't even go to HR. We've had so many KARE nurses we just know the stipulations. The only one that really has to be worked around is not being the only nurse in the building.
