Hi!
I just sent in my application for kent state accelerated program for the January 2017 start and was wondering if anyone else had applied here in the past or for this cohort start date????? Would love some advice!!! :)
You may be in! I got an email yesterday 9/30 at 250pm. BUT, I have not opened it yet. Too anxious to. I will open by Monday.I think it may depend on who your advisor is. I have Rachel and maybe she is done with her students and if you have another advisor she may not be done with hers yet. Not sure. I do know that they use a numerical system. The highest number of points you can get is 11. The ones with the highest value get in. Most often that is correlated with the higher GPAs but it doesnt have to be.
I had all of my science pre-reqs done and all of my blue courses done. I also have a masters degree, but they dont consider that - which is ridiculous considering it is a graduate degree and you cannot earn C's in any course in graduate school. I did an accelerated masters and you cannot tell me that I am not vetted in accelerated programs.
I just hate waiting around to apply for the next class. I could have obtained a ADN by now waiting on KSU and moved on to an online RN-BSN. Yes that is inefficient when you already have a bachelors, but may be my only way if I do not get in.
There are multiple ways to become a nurse! Be encouraged everyone!!
Yeah I know how you feel. I knew going into it that it was a numbers game but I thought my odds were good. I do wish they would consider what your undergrad degree is and any volunteer or paid healthcare experience. Prior to applying to the accelerated program I did go up to Kent Ashtabula and talked to their advisors about their ADN program. The advisor reviewed my transcripts and said that I could get into their program fairly easily. So I actually applied there after I got my rejection email yesterday. I'll let you know if I hear back. Atleast with this program I will be able to continue my current career and still end up with my RN and do an online bridge program when I'm done. Let's hope that everything happens for a reason. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!!
Have you opened your e-mail yet? For those who don't get in you can talk to your advisor and they will let you know where you were at. I talked to Rachel this morning and she didn't tell me how many applied but said I was 44 and they accepted 24. We then went over a few things that will make my score higher if I want to apply again. However I just saw on the website that it looks like they are only going to be doing spring and fall cohorts no more summer. Has anyone heard anything about this?
I did see that online. I'm not sure what the difference will be now with the fall program, it sounds like they're changing things up a bit. I was hoping to just apply for the summer cohort if I didn't get accepted to spring. If they've picked 24 people, I wish they'd fill us in on who was accepted! Haha.
