Hey you guys! I didn't see a thread for those applying to KSU for the Fall 2017 BSN Cohort, so I decided to make one. The deadline for applications is getting ready to come up and then decisions will hopefully be made shortly after, so I figured we could all be nervous and wait together :). On the other threads, people share their stats so I'll post mine below!
Overall GPA: 3.92
Best 5/7 Math & Science Grades: All A's
Best 7/12 Total Prerequisite Grade: All A's
TEAS Score: 92
Looking forward to interacting with you guys and distracting myself from classwork
Definitey be patient! They are very good about giving prompt admission decisions. I'll cross my fingers for you. I gave up my spot so that's an extra open seat you may be able to fill! But I totally agree with the price point not being the business. For me it's not really a reasonablw option as I already have 100+ grand of loans to pay off between my first bachelors and a masters. I want a solid education that's going to land me a job, and I'm more than confident KSU will be able to provide me with the proper preparation... especially for passing the NCLEX!!
Pretty much everyone gets offered zilch financial aid. I got a few thousand dollars from a nursing grant and then offered work study (even though students aren't encouraged to work during the program), but none of it came close to covering the program cost. So be prepared to take out hefty private loans if you don't have liquid money available. Rest assured, if you get in there and decide to go, you'll receive an excellent education!

^ This is the truth. I got a merit scholarship, grants, and federal loans that all totaled to about $5k per semester which is literally nothing compared to the price of the tuition ($20k+/semester) let alone staying in Atlanta. If you are looking for the financial aid to make it a more feasible option, I can honestly tell you not to hold your breath. I gave up my spot as soon as I was admitted to UNG's nursing program because I literally couldn't fathom having to take out $60k+ in loans to pay solely for tuition for a BSN lol.
Here's a viable option- check out the National Health Service website. They just opened up the scholarship application window for this year. In short, they will pay for your schooling but you commit to giving them 2 years of (paid) service, working in an underserved city. My Mom won this scholarship when she went for her CNM and we moved from OH where she completed her degree to San Diego county where she is a provider still. You may have to dig through the website a bit but they also have this scholarship for BSN.
Yes the Nurse Corps scholarship is such a great opportunity for those that are considered to be financially in need! I'm only 20, my parents still claim me as dependent, and they make too much money for me to even be seriously considered for the scholarship. My EFC is much too high, and I haven't heard of anyone with above a 0 EFC getting the scholarship. But definitely look into the program if you meet the criteria and think you have a good shot of getting it!
