Kennesaw State Fall 2011

Published

I just applied to Kennesaw State's program for Fall 2011. I thought it would be fun to do a roll call to see who else is out there beginning the waiting game!

Congrats everyone!!!! You're 1 step closer! Take advantage of the mock interview at KSU if you can and if not, the questions that vyockey listed are a great resource. Also, look at former posts from earlier semesters and see what was asked. I can say they usually don't change. Just know why you want to be a nurse and apply every question back to nursing and how that skill will help you. They are trying to see if you have the skill set needed.

I can not stress enough....be EARLY! I was called back 5 min before my actual appt. Relax, breathe and show them you want this and that they need you in the program. Show them you are confident (not cocky), just be sincere.

It will be here before you know it!

Thanks vyockey for posting the questions and the link. It was very helpful. And thanks ugabelle for the congrats and info about the interview. I had my mock interview today at the career services center and I am glad that I did it. The person videotaped the "interview" and gave me feedback after. She asked me: why do you want to be a nurse? What qualities does a nurse have? Tell me about a situation where you had to make a diffiult decision. Tell me about a situation that challenged your ethics. And some follow up questions to these. Interestingly, she basically told me that I need to be more brief and get to the point with my answers. I already knew that I talk too much, lol. It was good seeing myself on the video and I hope it helps next week!

How is everyone doing with anticipating the upcoming interviews? I think I'm more nervous now than ever!

Ugabelle- if you remember, what questions did they ask you at your interview?

Thanks Peachy for posting about your experience with the mock interview. I was not able to sign up for one. I know a few people that got into the program starting this summer and the questions you were asked in the mock interview sound like the same questions they were asked in their real interviews. I need to get my answers for these questions ready. It has been an extremely busy week for me and next week is coming fast!!

Hi everyone! I'm new here but I've been following this thread for a while now. I am interviewing for the accelerated program on the 12th. Does anyone know how many people will be accepted? I know 40 are interviewing, but I thought that was the size of the program. Maybe we'll all get in :)

Thanks and good luck to all!

I am already soooo nervous about my interview. I went to the mock interview and it was very helpful (although seeing myself goof up on camera was cringe-worthy!)

The lady at the Career Services asked me these:

Tell me about yourself (and relate it to WHY you are here, interviewing for KSU nursing, etc)

Why did you chose nursing?

Why have you chosen KSU?

What experience do you have in the field of nursing, if any?

Tell me a time when you were faced with a difficult situation and how you handled it.

Tell me about a time when you showed compassion.

Tell me about a time when a coworker was not pulling his/her weight on your team.

Tell me about a time when you had a difficult customer and how you handled it.

What would make us pick you over someone else for this position?

What do you think makes a good nurse?

I think there might have been more, but I can't remember. I was so flustered with the watching of myself on her desktop camera!

:uhoh21:

Interviews start today!!! AH! good luck to everybody! Mine's at 3:30 today so say a prayer for me!

Best of luck bmd!! Mine is Thursday. The nerves are definitely kicking in! :uhoh21:

How did your interview go bmd513? Mine is tomorrow morning at 9:30. I'm really nervous too.

It went really well! at least, I hope it really went as well as I think it did! I guess the interviewers could have thought differently... You will do fine! make sure you get there early bc they took me back a half hour before my scheduled time. Just remember to take a few really deep breaths before going back and to stay calm! and just so you know, rm 1003 is the office with the glass windows that doesn't actually have a number on the outside of it, just in case you didn't know. lol, I spent more than a few minutes looking for it, roaming the halls in heels = OUCH! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Thanks! And thanks for the directions. My lab partner was accepted for the Summer program and she pointed it out to me last week. It would be easy to miss it. Good luck to you as well. At least the worst is over for you now!

Glad to hear it went well, bmd. Now time to wait...again. At least we won't have to wait nearly 3 months for the next decision! Thanks for the directions too. I was wondering where that room was. I saw some confused people walking around in nice dresses and suits this morning in the Prillaman building. That would have been me ;)

Good luck tomorrow, sings&shoots!

how did the interview go Sings&shoots? I had my fingers crossed for you this morning!!!
