Hey,
I'm new to this site and would like some information/advice on the interviewing process. I haven't heard anything about the interview which sucks, but I have to prepare....Does anyone know when they will be mailing out the interview letters? What kinds of questions do they ask? If you do not mind to share your GPA and TEAS with me also. Thanks so much! Best wishes for those who have applied!
Anxious,

I'm in the accelerated program started Fall 2009. My GPA for the pre-reqs was 3.2, TEAS of 90. The interview....well....let's just say that if you were in a job interview the questions are pretty much along the same line. "Describe a situation where you...", "Have you ever had a case where....and how did you deal with it?" Nursing school is all about application, application, application, and they want to know how you apply yourself in dicey situations.
The accelerated group that goes to Rome is pretty tight-knit. There are only 20 of us and we all have the same classes. Keep in mind that accelerated is like drinking from the fire hose, and you'll cry more than a few times, but you can do it if you keep up with the work. Good luck!
I just talked to F to get stats on how many applied and how many spots they have for the accelerated program. Approximately 120 people applied (accelerated) they will take 25 for the fall. I forgot to ask how many people they would be interviewing for the accelerated program... Guess I should have thought of that, too...
Interview letters will be going out between now and Monday. Also, she didn't explicitly say that I have an interview, just "you'll be getting a letter and I think you'll be happy". Hope everyone else hears their good news soon!
Thanks, TT22 and wrobelr :)
I imagine that the letters for both programs will go out at the same time, it sounded like they had made all of their interview decisions. I didn't ask about the traditional program so I'm not sure about how many applied, how many are interviewing, or the expected class size. I'm sure F.H. would be happy to answer your questions. She's really nice.
From what I've read it looks like they have been interviewing approximately 80 people for 40 traditional slots. I would imagine that these ratios carry through for the accelerated program, too. If this is correct, about 50 people will interview for the 25 accelerated spots.
Hey bdanders,
Thanks for giving me the number. I spoke to Fran a while ago and she told me that I will have to wait until the letters are sent out. Nothing like you bdanders!!! Therefore, I don't think I have any good news. I'm prepared for the best and worst, of course. I'm happy for you and wish you the best on your interview. Keep me updated through your journey as I will do the same.
To everyone who applied: best to you guys/girls also!!!!
Best to all,

Don't count yourself out yet, maybe she was just overwhelmed with calls and decided she was done giving out info for the day. I cannot imagine the number of 'digging' phone calls she gets every day. Good luck to you!

Your TEAS score counts for 20% of your total score. When I talked to someone from admissions they noted that they look for a minimum of 80 in each of the 4 categories; however, from what I have read from past students, they only consider your composite score for 'ranking' purposes. If there were an exact tie between 2 candidates I imagine they would look at individual categories and place more weight on the math and science portions (could be totally wrong, but this is what I would do :) ).
I really think you'll get an interview. Based on what I've read from last year's 'KSU Fall 2009' thread, there was one student with approximately a 3.6 GPA and 78 TEAS. She got an interview; however I do not believe she ended up in the nursing program. I also have another friend who had a 3.5 GPA and low 70's on the TEAS, she also got an interview but was not accepted. Additionally, being a previous KSU student also factors into the decision to grant an interview.
The interview is a behavioral interview. Here is a link to a site with some great interview practice questions.
