Kennedy King College

Published

:D Hello, my name is Talisha Rodgers. I'm 26yrs old the mother of two wonderful little boys (3 &1) I recently started to apply at different school for LPN. I live in Elgin, IL and my Community College(E.C.C.) waiting list is almost 3 years. My mother who an RN thought I should try a Chicago City College. After a week I have decided on Kennedy King College. Just wondering if any of you ever attend and how was the teacher? the class size etc? I still have pre-req to take which I am taking this summer. Just a little advice would be great!!! If you know of any family/friend that attend KKC for Nursing please share. :bowingpur

OMG Congrats!!

One more question...which ones have the ADN program...i saw kkc had a lpn program but no adn???

and another question...do they take in-district people before they take out of district??

Truman is ADN only, but Im not sure about KKC. I think that info is available on their website. Selection of nursing students varies by schools. Someone told me that Daley take their in-district students first. You can call the school nursing dept of your choice to ask them to be sure.

Im in the KKC LPN to RN Bridge Program now! You have to be an LPN first than bridge over to the RN program.

They dont have a str8 thru ADN program.

Good Luck

do you have to take that class, when is offered?? summer only?

How often does KKC have the bridge program? How hard is it to get in?:heartbeat:redpinkhe

If Im not mistaken they offer bridge programs fall and summer. They also do day and evening programs. Here is the contact info 773-602-5222 http://kennedyking.ccc.edu/departments_nursing.html

Good Luck

Do you have to have Chem and microbiology to get in?I think that I already asked this.....

nursemmie,

thanks for the information, ill call them tomorow.

do you have to take a summer lpn-rn bridge course as in truman, olive harvey, and malcolm x??

also, in general how are the lpn bridge students doing in the program? i understand that at some schools it can be a difficult transition.

is the program extremely intense, ie is it possible to work a full time job and survive in the program?

would you say that the staff (clinical instructors, don, professors) and general reasonable and repectful when it comes to students?

sharif

ok.. this is just my experience... others may say different... The transition bridge program was easy for me.. I had been working in the field as an LPN for a year and a half... just kinda of a refresher course on med-surg as far as the bridge is concerned... The program thus far has been OK... I dont have children so it hasnt been that difficult for me.. at times it can be stressful as with any NURSING PROGRAM.. def not a BREEZE... the instructors arent that hard on you.. dont get me wrong.. they do expect the best out of you...but are understanding... The one thing I will say is that you need to start preparing for HESI as soon as you begin the program... Its no JOKE.. you must PASS HESI in order to SIT for BOARDS!!!

Good luck with everything and lmk if you more questions..

All the best :)
