I'm currently going to PBSC (PBCC) getting my pre reqs for the nursing program when i was approached my Keiser University about their program (West Palm Beach campus). My question is, is it worth it to go to Keiser, because from what i have been told it is very expensive. And also, exactly how expensive is it? I am scheduled to take the TEA's test next week and i am wondering if it is even worth it.
I am going to attend UCF - it is a 10 unit program RN to BSN (about 2 months per unit) which costs about 1k per unit
I am also considering 2 other schools, one of them st. Pete School of Nursing, (online) which would cost me slightly over 6k for the whole program. Although I am still checking on their accreditations and saw SACS and CCNE
Hey, i know this is a while after your initial post about the program at Keiser. You are probably already in a nursing school. Whatever the case may be, i'm answering the question just incase someone else sees this post.
I'm starting the nursing program at Keiser on August 29th this year. I aced the TEAS and everything that goes along with it. The school has both pros and cons.
Pros:
1. The program is 16 months.... as opposed to the usual 24 months that most schools have for their RN programs.
2. It's conveniently located in so many cities. The one i'm starting at is West Palm Beach... 10 mins away from my house! Beats FAU and NOVA and PBSC.
3. Easier to get into than FAU, NOVA, AND PBSC. I applied to FAU and NOVA but didnt have time to apply to PBSC.. even though it probably wouldve been a better idea to go there financially. FAU and NOVA accept a small amount of students out of the thousands of applicants they get. (30-50 students out of 2000).... I also found out that like, 35/40 of the students FAU accepted was their own students who started there... same goes for NOVA.
4. The school is accredited by NCLEX and every other agency that people say they are NOT accredited with.
Cons:
1. It's expensive. The full program is $30,000 and some change to be exact
2. Not a great reputation but that only comes from pple who couldnt handle their heavy workload or just don't like the school for some reason or another.
Hope this helps!
I am taking my TEAS on October 20th to get into Keiser...I was wondering about their acceptance process. They only allow 24 students into the program at a time, I start my prereqs in January, they lead up to the beginning of what WOULD be my Core in September. How crazy was the acceptance process for those of you that went to Keiser? That number is awfully low for the money I will be putting out...I don't mind the money if I can get get my RN in 25 months though.

Just wondering what school are you pending acceptance for the RN-BSN program?
But I agree with what you are saying, Keiser is a good option for students who do not want to wait on a waiting list for two years, or those who have tried but did not get in to a public school.
$40K for an associates degree is a lot of money, but like you said there are a lot of way that you can bring it down.
If I hadn't gotten accepted to BC I would of probably applied there to school as well.
