Any Keiser Lakeland RN students? I would like responses for this campus because, from all the Keiser posts... It seems like every campus is different. I just have a few questions on their "waiting period." I have all my pre-reqs done and have already graduated from the school with an MA degree (should have just gone with nursing!) Anyway... my advisor told me that I have a confirmed seat for the sept. 2010 class but since I have all my pre-reqs finished I would most likely be bumped up to the class of sept. 2009. How often does this "bump" happen? I just want to make sure I plan on going there and then twiddle my thumbs and end up waiting until 2010! Any experience with this???

When I started in January of 08, my start date for the nursing program was 09/09. I finished my pre-reqs in October and was accepted into the program for the January start date. You can go to the dean at anytime to see where you are on the list. She is very nice. It's a pretty sure bet that you'll be bumped, just a matter of how quickly.

I know you wanted Lakeland but here at Melbourne campus it happens, A LOT. 5 people who were supposed to be in our FUNdamentals class got bumped to the class ahead of us because they had their pre reqs completed. Now they will graduate 4 months ahead of our class!

The advise I have for you is to call the school and make SURE you are on the list of potential students to be bumped.

You will be bumped up I was in the jan '10 start but they moved me all the way to Jan '09 but could not take it so I start at the lakeland kesier in Aug '09 b/c I am do to have a baby in June :)

got bumped already to spring 2010 and I had not even started classes yet! Now I only have microbiology to take in June and although they have already offered to bump me to September 2009 class, my husband wants me to wait til the holidays are over to move my son and I away from him. So I get a nice vacation and then woooo nursing core starting in January 2010!!!!!! :lol2: you were right on the money cdgpatterson!

i've also been bumped up. when i first applied this summer they said my nurse core would be starting jan 2010; but once my transcripts were evaluated, i was bumped up to fall 2009. the dean said that they re-evaluate all the applicants every month. as you pass each class with a satisfactory grade and maintain a minimum 3.0 gpa you get bumped up. i'm fully expecting to start either january or may of 2010. i have 4 gen ed classes i need to take first. this semester i'll be taking a&pi, a&pii, microbiology and psychology.

RoxyRN I actually got bumped AGAIN and start classes (nursing core) Monday! We just finished a workshop last week focusing primarily on basic math and dosage calculations. It was an easy review week but a necessary one since we are expected to know how to convert between systems when dealing with meds. I am sure you will do great in your gen-eds and I will definitely post again about how fundys and pharm is going. Clinicals start in 2 weeks... super stoked and nervous :yeah::uhoh3: Talk to ya soon! -K
