Keiser or Galen

I am looking at Galen and Keiser to attend in February/March to start the LPN program. I then plan on to continue to get my RN through their bridge program. Long term I plan on continuing to get my bachelor's (RN) and then get my master's and test to become a CNM. Anyway....I'm just wondering what some of the pros and cons are at both of these schools are. I'm sitting here and really can't decide which school I like the best. I know they are both expensive. That's not my biggest concern. To me I like the small class size and that you get a lot more clinical experience. I went to Keiser and I love the staff and it seems great. Then again Galen seemed nice too and I loved the look of their labs. So I need help. I also want to know that if I transfer somewhere else like University of Tampa that my credits would transfer (Galen has assured me that UT and Univ of Phoenix will accept their credits). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I went to Keiser for my LPN and am now in the RN program at Galen. I went to a (then) brand new campus for Keiser and chose it primarily because it was close to my house. I think Galen is the more organized and rigorous program and would have went there if I didn't live so far away, so I'd say Galen, especially since you can move directly into their RN program without waiting. If you went to a Keiser campus and liked it though you may have a tough decision. My Keiser location did not have a RN program so it wasn't an option. Also, verify with UT directly that they will take your degree from non-regionally accredited schools because when I contacted their nursing department that said they would not! Any reason why you didn't want to do a generic RN program? Several of the private and public schools have them in the area, especially if cost isn't a factor. I am also looking at CNM school when I am finished with my RN ; )

I went to Galen for LPN and am now at SPC doing the RN program.

I know its exciting to be able to start school right away and know you'll be done in just over 2 years.

I really liked Galen, but the cost to do the RN program and the inability to transfer credits to public colleges stopped me from doing the RN program there.

Think long and hard about how much student loan debt you honestly can afford to take on. Realize that no matter which school you go to you'll still be earning the same wage if and when you find a job. Read some of the threads from students who graduated with $100k loans.

Going to a private college also limits you on where you can complete a BSN and other degrees and certificates.
