Hey anyone hear back yet?

Nop..

Hey guys! I got alternate listed by KCC  a few years ago (which gave me hope), but, after retaking classes and the TEAS to get better scores, I was still denied by the program in subsequent semesters. I was so determined that KCC would be my program and was being stubborn and hard on myself for not getting in!

After a while I lost hope and ended up finishing my bachelors degree in another field. I still wanted to become a nurse somehow, so I finally decided to bite the bullet and apply to HPUs program and I got accepted on my first try. I know HPU isn’t most people’s first choice, way more expensive and they do require slightly different prerequisites, but I just wanted to share my story in case anyone is in the same boat. I honestly wish I had applied to HPU years ago and not wasted all that time trying to get into KCC. I imagine it’s even harder now that I’m reading about them only accepting 12-18 students out of their hundreds of applicants.
Anyways, I don’t know if anyone cares but I just wanted to share what I’ve been through in case anyone is going through the same thing! Applying to HPU was kind of my last resort but I’m SO glad that I did!
Best of luck to everyone trying to get in anywhere! Whatever you do, don’t give up!!

Thanks for that comment. I applied to KCC and Chaminade. Unfortunately I tried HPU but didn’t know they required ENG 200 course so I’m taking it now in case I don’t get into the other two.

I haven't received any letter from KCC yet. The last time I talked to an advisor, she mentioned that they were going to TRY and finish reviewing apps and send out letters during Spring Break (March 14-18). I'm guessing they're behind with reviewing applications, but I'm expecting letters no later than the end of March. I also asked about waitlisted students and she said that waitlist students will know if they got accepted no later than the last week of Summer, right before the semester starts. Oftentimes, they try to notify waitlisted students earlier than that, but it can sometimes be until the very end that they find out they got accepted or not.

Thanks, Makuasmama for the advice! I definitely agree with it. My initial plan is KCC because their BSN bridge program is one year shorter (only 3 years) versus 4 years at other programs and its cheaper thus fewer debt years to pay back. However, if it takes me 2 years and I still don't get into the KCC program then it makes sense time and money-wise to go with HPU or Chaminade. It's like 2 extra years making money as a nurse paying off the higher debt or 2 extra years of not making money at all because you haven't started the program yet. After a certain amount of time trying for KCC, both routes end up debt-free in the same number of years, except KCC is not a guarantee until you get in so it can actually end up being more time/money after so many attempts versus just going for the other programs.

I received a letter from KCC stating my application was incomplete and I didn’t turn in the hard copy of my TEAS. I know for a fact I printed it & placed the results in the envelope and also submitted it online from thr TEAS website… ugh! So frustrating!

I just checked my mail and I received my letter from KCC. I got alternate listed ? Does anyone know if they actually accept alternate listed students? If so, how many students typically get added? I can't imagine them accepting more than 5 students on the alternate list, if not less.

Oh no!! I'm so sorry to hear that kikiryryxforever! I would give them a call on Monday and talk to someone. That is so frustrating. I honestly don't know why they don't have an online application? They really should update their application system because there is just so much opportunity for human error, such as being misplaced by the postoffice or the nursing office.

@TYoshi I was alternate listed for the program in Spring 2021 and got accepted right after orientation. I think they accepted 8-9 more students for our cohort. Goodluck! Hope you get in.

Does anyone know how the health requirement deadline works for alternate listed students? In the letter, it states that the accepted student deadline for health documents is May 31st. I'm assuming alternate listed students would be later since we don't know if we'll get into the program or not? I'm trying to get all my vaccinations/blood titer ready, but it looks like I won't have them ready until June 20th. The Hepatitis-B three-shot series is concerning me since it's like a 6-7 month process. Do they allow you to start the semester if you started the Hepatitis-B vaccination process, but haven't completed it yet?

Aloha Everyone,

The Mandatory New Student Orientation zoom meeting for both accepted and alternate students was today. Just checking in, did any of you alternate students get in or know of other alternate students who got in yet? I haven't heard anything yet and I just wanted to see if admissions made their alternate choices already or if they were still working on it. Thank you
