KCC Kapiolani ADN Spring 2023
Thanks! I actually got in the Fall 2022 cohort! I was waitlisted and then I received an acceptance email 2.5 weeks before it started. At that point, I was getting my application ready for the next round because I figured I didn't get in. They must have hired another clinical professor or had someone drop at the last minute. The program is pretty dang competitive to get into. My original stats were what I mentioned above except no CNA patient experience. I got certified in preparation for my next application. They really weigh the TEAS score heavily. I think the scores in my cohort range from 85%-91%. Don't sweat if you don't have all straight A's. If you have a couple B's, retaking them isn't really worth the time or money imo. It's better to focus that energy onto the TEAS and try to get a score in the 86%-90% range. Also, get CNA certified and max those points out (it really helps with the material covered in the first semester of the program). Good luck!

KCC ADN FALL 2022
Awesome Lyn!! Congrats ? we’ll be in the same cohort together! They probably were able to hire a third clinical instructor, which means, 6 additional alternate students got accepted! So I think our overall class is going to be around 18 students? I don’t think it matters where you get the titer blood test done. I went through my PCP. All I know is that they have to be positive or reactive. Also, if you have any questions, Karla Cepeda is the person to ask for Health requirement related inquires. However, she takes forever to respond to the general nurse health email they gave us. I would email her directly at her UH email if you aren’t getting a response from the Nurse health email.

KCC ADN FALL 2022
Aloha Everyone, Its been a while since this thread was last updated. I wanted to share the news that I got into the Fall 2022 program! I received an email earlier today stating that I was a chosen alternate! I received the email today (8/2), I need to accept by (8/4) and submit all health requirements by (8/15). So if you find yourself on the waitlist, get those health requirements done! They definitely can make or break your application. It took me a few months to get all the health requirements done. Stay positive and keep chipping away! You can't help but move forward if you keep moving - Perseverance is key.

KCC Kapiolani ADN Spring 2023
Hello everyone! Is anyone applying for the KCC Spring 2023 ADN program? What are your stats like? Did you make any changes/improvements from previous application rounds? This will be my second attempt, I got waitlisted for Fall 2022. Same grades and TEAS score, except now I have some patient experience. Although it's not much, I hope the patient experience is enough to push my application into the acceptance pile this time. I really don't want to have to retake the TEAS again ? + Prereqs: 2 B's, rest A's + Co-reqs: all A's + TEAS: 87.3% + CNA course certified and 1-month phlebotomy patient work experience.

Thanks, Seoyoung for sharing your update! I hope they're able to find another Clinical Instructor in time. In the meeting, they said if they find a third instructor they'll add a third cohort with 6 more students. Right now they have 2 instructors with 12 students. I found their KCC Clinical Instructor job posting and posted it on several nurse forums, travel nurse FB groups, as well as sent it to all my nurse friends to try and help spread the word about the job opening. Here is the job posting if you want to help share and spread the word! The more eyes that see it, the better chance of them finding someone in time ? https://www.glassdoor.com/job-listing/instructor-cc-nursing-university-of-hawai-I-JV_IC1140656_KO0,21_KE22,43.htm?jl=1007670226021&utm_campaign=google_jobs_apply&utm_source=google_jobs_apply&utm_medium=organic

KCC ADN FALL 2022
Aloha Everyone, The Mandatory New Student Orientation zoom meeting for both accepted and alternate students was today. Just checking in, did any of you alternate students get in or know of other alternate students who got in yet? I haven't heard anything yet and I just wanted to see if admissions made their alternate choices already or if they were still working on it. Thank you

Does anyone know how the health requirement deadline works for alternate listed students? In the letter, it states that the accepted student deadline for health documents is May 31st. I'm assuming alternate listed students would be later since we don't know if we'll get into the program or not? I'm trying to get all my vaccinations/blood titer ready, but it looks like I won't have them ready until June 20th. The Hepatitis-B three-shot series is concerning me since it's like a 6-7 month process. Do they allow you to start the semester if you started the Hepatitis-B vaccination process, but haven't completed it yet?

KCC ADN FALL 2022
Oh no!! I'm so sorry to hear that kikiryryxforever! I would give them a call on Monday and talk to someone. That is so frustrating. I honestly don't know why they don't have an online application? They really should update their application system because there is just so much opportunity for human error, such as being misplaced by the postoffice or the nursing office.

KCC ADN FALL 2022
Thanks, Makuasmama for the advice! I definitely agree with it. My initial plan is KCC because their BSN bridge program is one year shorter (only 3 years) versus 4 years at other programs and its cheaper thus fewer debt years to pay back. However, if it takes me 2 years and I still don't get into the KCC program then it makes sense time and money-wise to go with HPU or Chaminade. It's like 2 extra years making money as a nurse paying off the higher debt or 2 extra years of not making money at all because you haven't started the program yet. After a certain amount of time trying for KCC, both routes end up debt-free in the same number of years, except KCC is not a guarantee until you get in so it can actually end up being more time/money after so many attempts versus just going for the other programs.

KCC ADN FALL 2022
I haven't received any letter from KCC yet. The last time I talked to an advisor, she mentioned that they were going to TRY and finish reviewing apps and send out letters during Spring Break (March 14-18). I'm guessing they're behind with reviewing applications, but I'm expecting letters no later than the end of March. I also asked about waitlisted students and she said that waitlist students will know if they got accepted no later than the last week of Summer, right before the semester starts. Oftentimes, they try to notify waitlisted students earlier than that, but it can sometimes be until the very end that they find out they got accepted or not.

KCC ADN FALL 2022
Does anyone know when Fall acceptance letters are mailed out? Is it mid-April? Does that include people on the waiting list? Or do waiting list people get notified even later? It's so inconvenient having to put everything on hold for 1/3 to 1/2 of the year. I was offered a new job position, but I don't want to accept it if I get into the program. It sucks being in limbo for almost half a year, only to find out you didn't get into the program ??

KCC ADN FALL 2022
Just a quick edit! I talked to the nursing program people and found out that I was able to switch out one of my B courses for a different course that I got an A in. So my updated stats are 2 B's and everything else A's with TEAS 87.3% and no patient experience. I just dropped off my application at the post office this morning! Every little bit makes a difference with this program ?

KCC ADN FALL 2022
I heard that they're accepting fewer students due to COVID causing limited clinical rotation space for students. Has anyone heard anything about the number of students they're accepting this application round? The last time I talked to an advisor (precovid), they told me that on average they receive 150 applications per semester and usually accept 18-24 students. However, I read on a different post that due to COVID they only accepted somewhere around 9 students for a previous application round? Ugh, as if the program wasn't already competitive enough. I'm hoping that's not true or that they figured out a solution and are able to accept more for Fall 2022
