Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

For the people who are in or have graduated from a nursing program, what was your GPA, ACT scores, and what school did you get into? I'm trying to figure out where I stand. I don't have a bad GPA, but I don't know if it's competitive enough.

Thanks!

I live in Kansas City... I applied to Saint Lukes, Johnson County Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College. I was accepted to all 3, however, I was put on the wait-list at JCCC. Each school had different application criteria and looked at different portions of GPA ( Prereqs vs. Total ) so I'll list them below.

JCCC

4.0 gpa (pre req only)

25 ACT

Lived outside of Johnson County ( -5 points)

KCKCC

3.5 GPA (Looked at total GPA)

76 TEAS

Lived in Wyandotte or Leveanworth County (+5 points)

Saint Lukes

3.91 GPA (Pre req only but different ones than JCCC b/c it's a BSN program)

I ended up accepting St. Lukes but do not start until the 13th. Good luck to you!

I only applied to JCCC. Had a 4.0 in everything, 29 on the ACT and was accepted. I start on the 20th. A woman I know had a 4.0 and got waitlisted because she had a 25 on the ACT.

Yes, very competitive.

Wow! I'm from overland park (now in TX) and I did not realize everything was so competitive up there! I'm kind of happy I am down here. Things are competitive but people with 4.0 don't get turned down!

Good luck everyone!

Yeah, JCCC is ridiculously difficult to get accepted to.

It turned out to be kind of a blessing in disguise for me though, because I really wanted a BSN, but was hesitant due to cost. It gave me a kick to just go for it!

I was debating the same thing and decided that if I can get into JCCC, I'll just do the bridge at St. Luke's. I think it's a fantastic school, but the cost scared me. Congratulations on getting in.

Thank you! We had orientation last Wednesday and the school seems to be everything that is talked about! :) Good luck to you in you're program. JCCC is great also!

I don't know how to edit a post, so I just wanted to say, in my above post, you're should be your!! That is a huge pet peeve of mine! :)
