Good luck TiffanyRN. The manager is really nice. I got the call today I got the job so I'm super excited. It's good that you informed her of your experience with your daughter, though I am sorry to hear that. I also let her know I have had past experience with blood disorders, my mother was diagnosed with leukemia a couple years ago, but thank God she did not need a BMT. Good luck with your application I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes. Let me know if you get the call
congrats to you...hopefully you will be making a little more than a dmc start. Karmanos is separate from the DMC.
True, they are just a partner but very intertwined as we share a building and do surgery on all their patients. I hape everyone makes more than the DMC start!
Don't worry too much about postings that say they prefer a BSN...seems like most the new nurses I know have ASNs even though all the postings say BSN preferred.

Snowstar4 do you work for DMC and if so do you guys have a hiring freeze as well, I have shadowed and interviewed for the OR at Harper and Renal at Sinai and haven't heard anything as of yet and it's been over a month. If you have any leads or the who to go to people, please let me know. TIA

Thank you, I kinda hope it's better as well, but I'm excited for the experience. I heard it's a great organization to work for.
@TiffanyRN I got hired for inpatient BMT. I have a BSN, but like snowstar4 said, I don't think they prefer one over the other. They called me the next day after I put in my application, it was quick. I don't know how they are about contacting after an application entry, but if you don't hear from them by monday or tuesday I don't see it harming your chances with a follow up.

No hiring freeze that I know of, jsut the opposite. Though you never know what Vanguard will throw our way!
Look like you just Interviewd for the HArper OR a month too soon...They just rolled out a big initiative to hire and retain Harper OR nurses...worth 10K each to the hiree and a person who recomend them over two years. So yes, they are hiring!

I have an interview for Karmanos this week. I know that an interview isn't an automatic job offer, but I'm just curious about Karmanos for anybody working there or has worked there. How is it? What's your day-to-day like? Patient to nurse ratio? Pay grade for a new nurse?
Thank you
