Fingerprint HELP!
If I'm not mistaken they only use fingerprints done within 60 days of processing, so I think you may have to do it again.

Wayne State Nursing Program Question
I had clinicals at DMC Receiving, Children's, Hutzel; Beaumont in Royal Oak, St John Macomb. Other hospitals are Oakwood, Karmanos, and Henry Ford, so you get your fair share great clinical experience, the same as you would through traditional. The first semester seems pretty hectic, but it's because you don't know what to expect, but as you continue through the program it gets easier because you get used to the pace. It's definitely not an easy program, I wouldn't say it's intense, you do have to work your butt off though, BUT it's definitely doable.

Karmanos
Hey, I got your message but I can't email back, don't have enough posts. Karmanos is a different entity than DMC, it's kind of like they're leasing space from DMC but have nothing to do with them. They use Harper in case a patient needs emergency assistance, because Karmanos only deals with cancer treatment. I start on Monday. As far as I know. Orientation is 10-12wks. What I've been hearing from other people is that the staff and working environment is nice and it's a good place to work for. It's a very nice and clean facility. The pay is different, but not a lot of difference. Good luck. If you get a position I would grab it. In my opinion I think it's a great experience. As far as the interview, the manager I interviewed with asked the basic questions, what's your weakness; how would your previous employer describe you; 3 adjectives to describe yourself kinda thing. You should do fine. Good luck! Let me know how it goes. What unit is it for?

Wayne State Nursing Program Question
Its a good program. The teachers are knowledgeable, of course you have some teachers that aren't as good as others but overall it's good. They really prepare you for the NCLEX. From my graduating class everyone succeeded on passing the NCLEX. Plus it helps when looking for a job, in my opinion. Hospitals around the Detroit area seem to like graduates of Wayne State.

Karmanos interview
Thank you, I kinda hope it's better as well, but I'm excited for the experience. I heard it's a great organization to work for. @TiffanyRN I got hired for inpatient BMT. I have a BSN, but like snowstar4 said, I don't think they prefer one over the other. They called me the next day after I put in my application, it was quick. I don't know how they are about contacting after an application entry, but if you don't hear from them by monday or tuesday I don't see it harming your chances with a follow up.

Karmanos interview
Good luck TiffanyRN. The manager is really nice. I got the call today I got the job so I'm super excited. It's good that you informed her of your experience with your daughter, though I am sorry to hear that. I also let her know I have had past experience with blood disorders, my mother was diagnosed with leukemia a couple years ago, but thank God she did not need a BMT. Good luck with your application I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes. Let me know if you get the call

Karmanos interview
Thank you snowstar4 @TiffanyRN the clinical manager told me that they had a hold on hiring, now that hold's being lifted and their looking for RNs. I would apply quickly, they have a couple positions open. I interviewed for the BMT unit. Goodluck.

Karmanos interview
I have an interview for Karmanos this week. I know that an interview isn't an automatic job offer, but I'm just curious about Karmanos for anybody working there or has worked there. How is it? What's your day-to-day like? Patient to nurse ratio? Pay grade for a new nurse? Thank you

Another jobless new grad
Hey TiffanyRN. I just graduated in December and passed my NCLEX in February. I also have been applying to every hospital I know, and contacting recruiters with no call back, BUT Oakwood Dearborn is hiring. I heard they are opening a neuro unit and need some nurses. I have an interview with them this Thursday. My peers that I graduated with in December (I think about 6 or 7 students) have received job offers from them, and there are a few more students from my class that have interviews with them this coming week, so I would definitely apply with Oakwood, they are hiring. It sounds like you would have a good chance for a call back. Good luck!!!
