Kaplan vs. ATI

Do any of you have feelings about which prep course is better?

Several of the students in my class have already passed Nclex that took it a few days after we finished school. They reveiwed the ATI videos, all of them. look over the book from our review and passed. I am doing the same but I am also using saunders as well. I have the Kaplan strategies book also but they said that they were not able to use those strategies on the test. I am begining to wonder if the people who write the NCLEX questions have figured out a way to get around us being able to use the strategies to answer the questions. Well I take mine in 3 days so I am just taking a break from studying so I guess I need to get back to the books. Good Luck to all who are facing boards soon.

My advise is, take off for a while from these forum and focus on preparing for NCLEX. These are part of distraction:D

I only check on here when I am taking a break. But I guess you are right there is a lot of posts that have a lot of negativity in them and sort of make you discouraged. I am sure the posters do not mean for it to come across that way but when you are studying you really don' t need to read alot of the bad stuff about the NCLEX. Well I am only replying to your post have not had the time today to be reading on here. Well back to the books my 30 min break is up now.

Thank you. I had been reading the threads on her until a couple of days ago until I realized that my anxiety levels were through the roof and I was starting to self doubt myself. So I am watching which posts I read if any and not spending more than 15 min. on the site. Thank you again for your well wishes and alot of your posts have helped me as well. Well I will post on WED. I guess or maybe late tuesday nite if I get brave enough to do the"TRICK" Pray for me my exam is at 3pm Tuesday

We had ATI throughout nursing school and i felt beaten and battered after taking the cap exam after each class. but i took the predictor exam at the end and was told i had a 95% chance of passing the nclex. there was no way i was going to let myself just hope on that happening. so i took the 2 week Kaplan class 4 days a week and am sooo thankful i did. kaplan helps you think through everything. i really didnt think i needed hours of another company's review class to go over 4 years of material. i felt i would have been overwelmed...in just the realization that i have forgotten the smallest details from different classes. nclex isnt about the smallest details of the kidneys etc...its about how to take a situation with certain information and make a decision for this patient you are caring for or prioritizing etc. take kaplan! hands down! and kaplan also has a review book that goes over some things you may have forgotten. good luck! :)

I liked the ATI series, a great predictor of how you would do on boards

I am taking the ATI prep now and the one thing I don't like about this prep course is that there are not enough questions to practice. Does the Kaplan prep course have more questions to study and review than the ATI?

ATI sucks in comparison to Kaplan. Do the Kaplan. Well worth it.

I used Kaplan for NCLEX and I thought it was EXTREMELY helpful. I would highly recommend it. I took a class (in person, not online) and used their online program. I followed their program outline with taking the practice tests, etc. and it was very helpful. They tell you what scores you should be scoring on the practice tests in order to pass NCLEX. Once I was scoring okay on the practice tests it really helped with my confidence for the actual test. Their practice tests (especially the later ones, the more difficult ones) are harder than NCLEX, so if you can score what you should be scoring on those then you will be totally fine on NCLEX. Do tons of practice questions every single day. They have online lectures too if you need a refresher in something - and I found that helpful. Good luck!
