hi everyone! im currently on kaplan and will be taking the exam 3 weeks from now. so far, ive only finished the following:

>diagnostic test: 60.56%

>qt1 : 67 %

>qt2 : 55 %

>qt3 : 49 %

>qbank: total percent correct to date - 53%

percent of items used to date - 14%

im so so down.. i think i wont be able to do this.. scores by far are so low and i only have 3 weeks left. do you guys think i need to resched?

how are you guys doing on your review with kaplan? please post. lets keep each other motivated!

Don't reschedule! The longer you wait the lower the % to pass the nclex the first time. I too am panicking but I will keep on going!

I take the NCLEX January 12 and I'll let you know what happens. You should have ample time to study. Stay confident!

I reviewed Hurst and now taking Kaplan..here are my scores so far.

Diagnostic: 56%

QT1: 64%, QT2: 67%, QT3: 50%

Q Bank: 57% (only 10% used to date)

Jeanster did you pass your nclex? Are there any special strategies for us that may be helpful?

My diagnostic was 64%. Only did three trainers (5, 6, and 7) and maybe two qbanks. My scores were always around 60%, but I did have a 48% on a qbank. I passed the NCLEX-RN the first time with 75 questions, 30 SATAs, and found it fairly easy.

Everyone is different, but that should give some of you an idea in case you click this thread. I didn't test until nearly 4 months post-graduation and studied maybe 15 hours a few weeks prior. I didn't do any other practice questions except some Saunders (two banks of 75).

Yes, I passed the NCLEX on the first attempt. I had about 90+ questions and finished in 1.5 hours. Has about 20 SATA, tons of questions are PRIORITY (which patient to see first) and had a few on infection so know your different diseases and isolations (contact, airborne, droplet).

I would have to say that Kaplan style is very similar to NCLEX, there questions looked the same as in font and how it was styled BUT the Kaplan questions seemed harder than the NCLEX questions to me. Take your time, relax and do the best that you can. I did the entire Prioritization, Delegation book by La Charity and i honestly think that booked prepared me more for the questions than the Kaplan and/or Hurst.

Good luck to you!

Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing some insights! :) about the kaplan and hurst, did you really finished reading their materials and doing their practice questions?

i love how you mention kaplan questions are harder than nclex. the majority of the other people said that as well. Thank you so much for the feedback

Hi Everyone! I am taking the Nclex on 3/12. I took the Kaplan course live in January. My scores:

Diagnostic 71%

Readiness 66%

QT 1 55%

QT2 55%

QT3 56%

QT4 61%

QT5 56%

So far I have done 2 Q bank exams and have gotten a 70 & 72.

My strategy going forward is to do 50 question Q banks in my weak areas, at least 150 questions a day and then take QT 6 & 7 by this Sunday. Then I will concentrate on getting as many Q banks done next week as possible and taking at least one Nclex style exam. I have already watched all the Kaplan online lectures and am brushing up on meds and things I am not familiar with as I go along. I am only using Kaplan. Hopefully this will work! Happy studying!
