Kaplan scores....please help

Published

hi all

I have nclex next week and I am currently doing the kaplan program.... I dont know if Im ready, what do you think, should I reschedule??

My scores are as follows

diagnostic 64

QT1 64

QT2 58

QT3 51

QT4 64

QT5 57

readiness 71

I am 96% done with qbank with a score of 59

I still have to take QT 6 and 7, I plan on doing that on monday and tuesday....then big day is thursday

Guys... I honestly dont rely now on percentage of how much I scored on Kaplan...

Base on my own experience.. I had Kaplan Online review .. I had the book which is categorized by basic care and comfort, pharmacological and parenteral therapies , safe and infective care...etc... before I ever reviewed the content..I assessed myself with their questions.... on 75 - i got 62% , 100 - 60% , 150 - 65% , 265 - 66% ... this is my initial percentage...

when I finished all the topics in that book i reanswered them again and I scored not below 85% ...and the Qbanks and... I failed my exam... which i do not know why...that time was my First Attempt for NCLEX....

my Second attempt

I just basically reviewed again... and....I failed again

now... on my third attempt.. I have to do a different review style.. I bought saunders 5e (for core topics which is divided into systems, not category) because whenever I encounter a disease that I do not know.. I had to go back which system is that disease and understand why is that happening blah blah blah...

and I bought Exam cram books which I typically see other people are using and passing with this book..

and I HOPE this time I will passs :(

...The difference between the qtrainer bank is nclex style questions

the qbank were most likely topics from their book and were restated like nclex questions.

I honestly don't know the difference between the two. The only difference I can think of is that the qbank allows you to do 50 max questions per test, you can choose the topics you want to get tested on or you can just all, you can select if you want to use questions that are unused or used or a mixture of both, and you can use time mode or tutor mode where they don't time you. Qtrainers are timed exams and the amount of questions per test keeps going up as you progress to qtrainer 7. Personally, when I do the qtrainers, I always feel like i'm bombing it, but surprisingly my scores aren't as bad as I'd thought. They're essentially the same types of questions, but I think the qbank may be slightly easier (in my opinion).

Thank you so much! :)

Thank you too! And good luck in your 3rd attempt. I also suggest PDA book by LaCharity. I will be taking my 2nd attempt on March 9. We can do this! Keep studying and keep the faith! :)

STAY POSITIVE! you can do this!

don't lose hope! i did kaplan and scores are around the 40's and I got a good pop up. i find kaplan q bank hard and sometimes the rationale doesn't make sense for me. took the nclex PN exam last friday. i went to the test thinking i don't know enough but I still got the good pop up. good luck and you will pass!!!! just try your hardest and pray!! it worked for me.

@purplechicxiii : I just bought the PDA but the content are questions... I am looking for the core contents.. and all i see is PDA practice exercises for the nclex exam( this one is the one I bought) I was hoping to find a PDA book which is topics and not q&a ...is there one? or I am just dreaming of this kind of book?

Oh I'm sorry, but PDA was just a practice questions book, which is really good in practicing for prioritization and delegation questions. I'm almost done with it, and I'm learning a lot. Since you already have it, might as well try it first, maybe you can learn from it also. :)

Thanks everyone for our support!!!

Hey, I just took qt7 today too and got 68% i thought I was doing bad cause I just got so drained after like the 50th question lol well don't be so stressed put with the scores cause people have actually scored lower and passed with 75 Qs from what I read on here. I was too tired to do anything else today so I'm just gonna read the rationales tomorrow and read the allnurses study guide. What are you gonna do for the next 2 days?

I am also going to review the all nurses study guide....and read though all the rationales from QT7...not looking forward to that LOL. Ive taken QT 1-3 again and plan to take 4 and 5 one more time, if time allows. Im just so sick of studying!! I dont know whether or not to stop my studying tomorrow and just relax on wed. What is your plan?
