Kaplan Review

Hi. I'm new to the group. I am looking at Kaplan and uworld for NCLEX. How is kaplan review and uworld?

I used both - UWorld is great for content, and Kaplan is great for challenging NCLEX questions. Both are good for format-wise. I had to take a weekend-long Kaplan review course through my school, but I know UWorld is cheaper depending on how long you buy a subscription for. Overall, I ended up loving UWorld more.

I'm using Kaplan now and honestly it's like a love/hate relationship. I take my nclex pretty soon so I can't say if it made me pass or not, but I do feel like it's working for me. There are a few negatives about kaplan that keep popping up here. One of them is the lack of SATAs and alternate format. From my experience, it has TONS of SATA, I rarely have fewer than 15 on the QBanks. The second is the rationales are lacking. It's a mixed bag. Most of the time it's fine. But once in a while I'll want to break my tablet in half because I can't wrap my head around it. But usually it's short and sweet and I can easily figure out why I got one wrong or right. Another negative, that I actually haven't seen here is that it repeats questions, or turns a SATA into a multiple choice. I feel as if this skews my scores, but to be fair I go through thousands of questions so it's not like I always get the same answer.

The kaplan questions range from super simple to extremely tricky. I honestly thought the tricky ones were the best. But I also found being able to take the question apart gives anybody the ability to solve them. And that's why I felt kaplan was invaluable. It lets you see questions in a different way rather than focusing on content, but at the same time you do learn content through the rationales. For me it just helped to have a class actually explain how to dissect a question rather than making up my own rules which may or may not be accurate. And so far everybody in my kaplan class who took the nclex passed except one (who said he got flustered).

Thank you. Kaplan has strategies, hurst Review don't. I believe now it is best I go with kaplan. I thank you for sharing your story with i will me use kaplan and uworld. My exam is Dec 3rd. Best of luck!!
