Hi guys! Can you make room for one more? :)
I too and hoping to start the LVN program this October. I passed the 12 minute test and am going in for the Hesi soon. When do you guys plan to start? I'm a little freaked out, but a year goes by SO fast...I can't wait on a list for 2 years...pllleazzeee...
Hey Liberty!!
Well Yeah i passed the 12 minute test too at Kaplan.. Are you looking to go to the one in Sacramento? Im really excited cant wait to take the HESI Exam. Iam waiting on the to call with the dates. If i get excepted class starts in October. If you are looking into the Sacramento class have you heard anything back yet? Do you know about financial aid and the grants/scholarships? I got an award letter from another schol and they said after my grant and the stafford loans i still would have to pay 13,000!! needless to say i wont be attending C.S.I Career school. But i think the Stafford loans and my grant schold cover everything...Any info you have would be greatly appreciated. Keep me informed and I'll do the same for you!!!
Hiya! No I am down near San Diego so I'll be going to the Vista campus. I went and bought the HESI guide today at Kaplan and am glad I did. I'm taking the HESI in August so it gives me a month to study and there are things on it that are very helpful!! I don't know much about loans and grants for the school? I am hoping to qualify for some gratns through the state of CA but honestly know nothing about that. The 30k is a lot, but we are a military family and move every 2-3 years so not only do I not want to wait on a 2 year waiting list but I can't!!!
Oh and I don't know if you read other threads on Kaplan but a lady responded to me who had been through the LPN at Kaplan and said there isn't a lot of homework, but a test every A.M at 8....she also said class rarely goes from 8-4 (like they told me) she said usually 3 at the latest.
Anyone going in October to Kaplan College?
Hey Liberty have you gotten the test dates for your hesi exam? here in nor cal kaplan hasnt relesed the dates yet. They said it should be the 2-3 week in july but no word yet. im getting so anxious. So you said you bought the hesi study guide?? you didnt get it for free? the advisor out here told me not to go out and purchase one because you get a free one through them.....anyways does it seem like it is going to be a hard test? do you know if it is on a computer? how long will it take to get results? im sorry for all of the questions.. im just going stir crazy waiting for the phone call telling me the dates..lol. i hope you get in!!

i would not recomend for anyone to go to kaplan in vist...my entire class would agree, you pay 30k and cant even use their printers! the only good think about kaplan is the progrm is accelerated so its worth it for a fast education, but keep your expectations low!
lol well i changed my mind about nursing so FORGET I POSTED THAT MSG

I took the wonderlic and passed yesterday so I'm onto HESI. kaplan in stockton begins group HESI testing in august. I was told the HESI study guide can be purchased for around $20. I get the distinct impression that kaplan doesn't give away much for free, except of course, the testing!
ashlie - what types of grants have you been able to receive? I'm infinetly curious. at kaplan, you can't even talk to a financial aid advisor until you are HESI qualified. all part of their application process. it's very structured.
anyone else figured out a way to cover the close to $30k price tag? does kaplan offer any type of assistance/grants? do they have access to private or public money (I would think any state monies would be tight because of CA budgetary problems this year).
the stockton kaplan LVN program starts in november.
TIA for any input!
You have to pay for your study guide too? wow.. mine is free. maybe it varies by campus. I have applied for the mycaa grant it is for military spouses to advance their careers in any portable job profession( since the moving around alot they want you to be able to get a job no matter where you live..) which is 6k then im applying for another grant that is for 2k which they say as long as you apply for it you get in ( military spouse only again)then i have some from camps i went to and stuff(mainly 250-500). They say that it is only 26,650 so what im thinking is that I'll just do the student loans which i believe kaplan does the one year program but your there for two terms so you get two years of loans which i think it comes out around 25,699 which leaves me only having to pay upfrnt 951... at least im hoping it will turn out that way (fingerscrossed). But info for you ... they are supposed to be giving out a list of scholarships/grants to apply for after you get the passing grade on the hesi... when do you take your test? They called me today saying my test is on wednesday!!! lol. there goes my weekend..hehehehehe.
