FEb. is actually the best time to start the program because you can recieve the 2009 and 2010 FAFSA grants, and cal grants, there are a few others that the school automatically filed for me, i do have a child and people usually get more money in grants if you have children. A few people in my class with spouses in military got money to go to school. I hope that helps a little! I did fnd it very frustrating the way they refuse to talk financials until you have already signed on the dotted line. Most of my experience with dealing with the faculty (not instructors) has been frustrating, but im over half way done and no school is perfect! im just looking at it as being a little more prepared for the real world. :wink2:

i would not recomend for anyone to go to kaplan in vist...my entire class would agree, you pay 30k and cant even use their printers! the only good think about kaplan is the progrm is accelerated so its worth it for a fast education, but keep your expectations low!

hi- i go to kaplan in Ca and it is a rip off, but worth it so you can start working as an LVN while going for your BSN. its 30k here in CA. so far the only problem i have had with the school is the disorganisation with our schedule and communication between teachers and staff, bu that could just be my school. As far as classes transfereing, most of them will not because its an accelerated program, for instance anatomay and physiology are combined and for pre reqs you have to take each class ssperate, but i did hear that you can always "challenge" the course at another college if they wont give you credit off the bat. hopefully i was some help to you

they told me a little over 30k for the entire year and that includes all the books and test fees.

Thanks so much everyone for the info! To answer your question mamyof3 the lvn program is 1year and is about 30k. however you may be able to get a grant for about 10k (in CA) and student loans. As far as i know they only transfer a very small portion of the classes to a university. I decided to spend the extra money on kaplan because I have no pre reqs under my belt and it would take twice as long to become an lvn at a jr college with pre reqs and waiting lists. Is your ultimate goal LVN or RN, have you taken any college classes yet?

Im working on getting into that class. still have to take the HESI entrance exam. Did you take it already? Do you know if the AP section is on the test or if you can use calculators?
