Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

btw..will u be working during school?

Well no I dont plan to work at least for the first part of the program. I plan to take out a loan, how about you?? I applied for a few nursing assistant jobs but haven't heard back yet. Well I will keep you posted.

Thanks

hey good luck to you guys.

@ the oral communications class, it's not clear which comm class this is.

will they let you transfer in credit for public speaking? or interpersonal communications? or either one?

I started Kaplan today!!! I was literally called yesterday and advised they had a spot of me if I was interested. Im so excited yet overwhelmed. I have to put my whole life on hold in the blink of an eye. Quit my job, say bye to my friends, find a place to stay, find financial aid etc.

Congrats msdimplescsuf :yelclap:, I wish you the best. Please keep us informed on how you are doing and if the course is what you expected.

yes, pls keep us updated on you like things.

I am happy to have finally found this thread...I am getting my package together for submission and hope to start in September....cross your fingers. To the couple of people that just started the program...let me know how it is going! (RN program):yeah:

"Hey jangelvi, Did they make you take your drug and background check?? I thought that was a little weird and expensive to take before we know if we are in or not."

I am getting confused by the entrance package...first my rep told me to get the tests done, gather my package, turn it in by the deadline...then after I find out if I am accepted, I do the drug screen, physical and background check. HOWEVER, now that I am about ready to turn in my package, she has changed her story--she said I turn it in ON the deadline date, and that I need to have the physical, background and drug screen done before the deadline for the package too. I don't understand. Any words of wisdom? Since this is kinda what you went through... Thanks

Hello everyone, its been a while since I could update because I have been so busy..imarealangel all I did was the drug screen and background check which is basically done all together. I haven't done my physical but I think they have you do that along with getting your immunization records after you are accepted. I turned my package in before the deadline day but just about a week before and because I lived 2 hours away from the school. It may be that they don't want you to turn it in too early so they can keep them all together. I love the program so far, the teachers are great and hilarious, they make learning fun. feel free to ask any questions you have.

Ok...Thank you msdimplescsuf. I am going to go in next week to get the forms and touch base, in person (I've just been corresponding by email). I'm happy to hear you like the program so far. That makes me a little more at ease with my decision. Now...just keep all your notes from class for me... just kidding ;)
