Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

I hope you get in. I know waiting sucks, mins seem like HOURS! And day like months. The KTP guide wasn't that hopeful. Did you take it 2x or just once?

Unfortunately I took it twice:bluecry1: I don't know what happened and I got the exact SAME score on my math that I did the first time. I know its my fault cause I rushed through it again. I guess I was nervous??? Because when I got home from taking it the second time I remembered the math problems and did them and realized it wasn't even that hard! So when my rep saw that I got the same score I think he got irritated with me or something?

Let me tell you though, I felt like the biggest idiot there that day. hahaha Though, I probably shouldn't be joking about it.

I KNOW!!! Do you work at a hospital muks17? I have a few coworkers who just graduated from Kaplan and passed boards. They said that usually they take people who already have jobs in places that they will get hired as an RN right away because it makes their school look good. One of them even told me she totally bombed the TEAS and they still took her. It looks bleak for me because I think they're saying it to make me feel better haha.

no, i don't have any prior medical background..just post bachelor degree in a different field. i too took the KTP twice scoring incredibly low on my first try irritated the rep that handled me that day.

you know what...that's how she made me feel after i took it the second time...like there is no point pursuing ADN.

I think I annoy my rep sometimes too. But I don't care my tuition pays their salary so I bother them all my little heart desires. Don't let them make you feel that way, if there's a will there's a way.

Okay I come with news. I just got off the phone with the receptionist, because none of the reps would speak to me and she said that they told her that they are still accepting applications and have not even made any decisions yet. I don't know....sounds like a bunch of bull to me. Why have a deadline if you're not even serious about it. She also said that they MIGHT call people Monday but that is a BIG MAYBE. So it looks like we won't hear anything for another whole week. If we didn't get in I wish they would just say so already.

You have got to be kidding me!!!!! They had better NOT be still accepting applications! Like you said, why even have a deadline then! Yeah, they should at least call the people are are for sure not in. Just so we can move on with other opportunities! If they are still accepting things, then I wan to know so I can get them a letter of employment! I just got hired at Scripps and if that little paper could benefit me even slightly, then I want the opportunity to put it in there!!! Thanks for the update though:)

OMG! I spoke to my rep earlier this week she assured me she would let me know Thursday or Friday! I'm sooooo losing my patience right now.
