Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.
Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!
@missellamae If you don't mind me asking, how did you that KTP go for you? I'm hopefully going to talk to my advisor tomorrow and maybe she will shed some light on my chances so I know whether to continue to freak out or what! hahaha Good luck to you!
Ehh I did great on my reading and writing, math wasn't so great. I don't get it..for med calculations in VN school I got 100% but oh well. 90 reading, 87 writing and 71 for math I'm not sure what my chances are but if they stare at that math score I won't get in....so I'm kind of freaking out.
I'm thinking about retaking it. I don't think it was anything like I expected. Especially the writing part. Does the writing portion carry much weight? I thought they just looked at the reading and math scores. I didn't even pay attention to what I got in writing! Haha. Whoops. I hope I'll feel better after I talk to my advisor. It's SOOOO long to wait to find out too. I'm going to go crazy!!!!! Sending lots of luck to you!

I'm going crazy too but my rep isn't really that helpful unfortunately wish I had a different one. I didn't think they looked at reading or writing I thot they only looked at math! Let me know what your advisor says hopefully it eases my nerves too lol thanks for the luck!! I hope we see each other in september!
Ok, I go today to fill out the paperwork and all that "fun" stuff. She said she tells her student to try to get an 85% in both Reading & Math. She seemed really happy with my scores but said I could retake them to try and get a 90%. If you get a 90% in both, you're eligible for early acceptance. I'll see if I find out anything else new today!

Congrats you filled out all that paperwork!! Lol I had a hand cramp after signing all that.
Thanks for all the responses! I just finished my KTP and will be applying soon to Kaplan for Sept. This might be on another thread, but can someone tell me if they know that Kaplan is a respected school in the eyes of hospitals? I want to eventually work for Kaiser. Does anyone know of any RNs who have been hired to large medical centers with 200+ beds? Thanks again guys!

I applied to Kaplan for September also :) hopefully we will be classmates!! I know that once you get your RN it doesn't really matter where you went to school...employers look at your experience and that you passed your boards. Or that's what I have heard anyway. I graduated from Kaplan before and got my LVN, no one has had an issue with where I went to school.
