So I was wondering if anyone can give me insight into what the submission status: “no longer in consideration for position” means for Kaiser Staff RN applications? I recently applied to 3 “Inexperienced RN New Grad” applications (one of which I applied the same hour the job posted) and immediately after submitting my applications each one has the same submission status “no longer in consideration...” Did I do something wrong?? I even emailed [email protected] and they gave me a super vague response that basically said to read and answer the questions carefully. Can anyone help me understand this please!! ????
Hi, I just wanted to chime in and reiterate some stuff. With KP, highly competitive job openings are open for a limited amount of time/ limited amount of application submissions. In the past, listings have only been open for 24 hours or when submissions have been filled - whichever comes first. For this position, if I had to guess, I would say that each listing likely accepted only 100 applications per job posting since it is a highly competitive job that I'm sure will be easy to fill. The job listing was only posted externally for 24 hours, however, I think it may be "24 hours or until filled".
As far as the Moreno Valley listing, I'd say it could be one of 2 things - though it says they're 'accepting job applications', I would say that the position has already been filled. Especially for the one that was posted on June 22. I know from experience that my application for KP immediately showed "No longer in consideration" when applying to a specialty unit. If I remember correctly, when asked if I had 1 year of experience in the related field, I checked the box 'no' which I'm assuming made me ineligible. But, going back to the whole "more applicants than there are positions" maybe the job listing already had plenty of applications and basically denied every application after they received x amount of submissions?
And, yes, I believe you were no longer in consideration for the new grad position since you selected the box as not having your license yet thus the system automatically flagged your application as not meeting minimum requirements.
A lot of what I'm saying is speculation other is from speaking with a nurse manager. I'm currently a KP employee, but not working as a nurse.
@kkvalenz Wow, thank you for explaining that so well. It’s super helpful to hear your insight especially since you have personally spoken with the nurse manager about this! I guess I just never realized how competitive KP medical centers truly are. I will definitely keep an eye out for future new grad openings. In the meantime, I’m applying to other new grad opportunities outside of Kaiser Permanente ☺️
I work for Kaiser as a nurse. The new grad program is only posted once a year and priority hiring is always given to current employees. Usually a job posting is posted internally for 7 days and then posted externally if no employee submits an interest due to union agreement. Im guessing there was a glitch because these job posts shouldn’t had been externally posted yet so the recruiter probably recalled them and it automatically made your status no longer in consideration. This happens moss than I’d like to admit honestly. The per diem positions were probably filled by someone with more seniority because they were posted in June with a status change in July.
From what I see, the verbiage does not imply you need to have to have the license already to apply, but you will have to have it once hired.
Even for current employees, you have to have a year of experience to apply for the RN positions unless its a new grad program. Its a stupid role that we are fighting but RNs belong to a different union than everybody else so its their rule.
Thank you!! @Gena Porter You input has given me a sliver of hope that I’m still in the running for the new grad position at least!
I did notice a slight change in my submissions portal... the “Inexperienced RN New Grad” position went from “View/Edit Submission” to just “Edit Submission”. Does this mean that potentially a recruiter is looking at my application or am I just being too hopeful?? My submission status has remained the same so it’s very difficult to know if that slight change is even significant.

Hi Gena, are you part of UNAC, CNA, or UHW? I was wondering about that same rule and my DA claimed UNAC was 'working on throwing that rule out' but that's all I heard regarding it.

Unfortunately it doesn’t mean anything. Once you are no longer in consideration, you aren’t being considered anymore. It would say “job submission complete.” if you are being considered then you will receive something called a “snap shot”. Its like a prescreen form the recruiter sends you which is often a good sign that an interview will follow. The statuses are misleading. The pic I uploaded shows two examples of this… the first one is a job I applied for but the recruiter recalled the position because something was wrong with the job post. It says Im no longer in consideration, but the position doesn’t exist anymore and still needs to be filled. The second job posting says Im basically still in the running for the position, but I know they had already hired someone for the position weeks ago.

Hello, I am part of UHW-SEIU. UNAC is only for the RNs/NPs and other advance practice nurses. They are working on throwing it out because UHW did. At first with UHW you used to have a year of experience to apply for LVN but now you can switch into an LVN position once you receive your license from MA/CNA/ etc. The LVNs said its not fair that anyone can become LVNs and keep their seniority while we can’t switch into RN roles as Kaiser hire external applicants just because they have experience and its not cost effective or promotes job growth. UNAC stated they would work on changing the rule like UHW did. But that was last year. I hope they do change it because almost every LVN at Kaiser are really RNs.
Thank you so much @Gena Porter Your pic example really helps clear up some confusion regarding the way Kaiser recruiters operation the online jobs portal. I think they should at least send people automated emails to let them know they didn’t qualify for the position, but that’s just my opinion LOL.
I do have one quick question: How soon after someone completes an application do they normally receive the “snapshot” email? Is it a few days or a few weeks after submitting an application??
It depends on how soon they need the position filled. For example, I applied for a per diem position in Signal Hill in June of 2018. I got the snapshot mid July and did the interview maybe about a week after the snapshot was sent. If your snapshot meets minimum requirement, you do a phone interview with a recruiter then they pass your file to the hiring manager who does another interview with you and give you a tour of the facility. All of this took place within days of each other. Then about a day passed and the recruiter called back to tell me they wanted to hire me. By mid August I started working there. Another position I applied for I got a snapshot months after I applied. It was so long afterwards I honestly forgot that I applied for the job. I didn’t get that one because they give you a deadline to turn the snapshot back in and I missed it. I will say it is easier to get a per diem position than it is a benefitted position because employees can still apply for external positions if they missed the internal posting. Only difference is seniority won’t come into play, experience does although preference is given to employees, an external candidate still has the chance of getting the position if their experience is better than yours. My advice is to look at a kaiser job posting and look at the skills/job description. Utilize as many of those skills as you can on your resume so that the program singles out your application. Thats how I started getting snapshots.

@aval13 ohhh, so even though it supposedly considers new grads, it really doesn’t?? I’m confused because the job description says the positions open to new grads. For example Staff RN (Hospital)-MV says this on the description....
And for the “Inexperienced RN New Grad” position, it’s saying that I’m not considered simply because I initially applied without an RN license?? I updated my profile to include my license, but that doesn’t really change anything, right? ?
