Kaiser new grad west la 2017

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone!

I did not see a forum about the Kaiser New Grad Program for West LA for February 2017, so I'd thought I would start one!

I applied December 1st and received an email tonight from recruitment to fill out a Pre- Screen Questionnaire. I am currently in the process of filling it out! I just wanted to know if there is anyone else who applied? It would be great to talk to someone else!

Best of luck with all the interviews :)

Hello nursepepper28,

i have been been looking for new grad positions on the kaiser careers website and have not seen any. Where did you find the one you applied for? What was it listed as? Do you have the job number?

Hi Irving73!

I was in your same position.

I actually stumbled upon the listing on the "New Grad RN California" group and applied the same day. I've heard the listings do not stay on the website for more than a couple of hours. If you are not a member already on FB of "New Grad RN California", I would recommend joining. They post job listings (like the Kaiser one!) :)

Congratulations !! What department ate you starting in?

Hi!

I haven't been hired yet at Kaiser! I'm still waiting and hoping for an interview. I just filled out the Questionnaire that came after the application I submitted online :)

Received an email with an interview invite. I have accepted a position elsewhere and will not continue with the application process. Good luck!

Do you need a BSN or just an RN? I currently have BS and pursuing ADN

You dropped the interview process with Kaiser !!?!?!??!?!?!!

WOWZERS !!! You must have been offered an INCREDIBLE job, because Kaiser is probably one of the best places for an RN in terms of Salary/Benefits/Longevity and ability to relocate while staying inside the parent system. I am shocked.... That's probably the bast paying place around... and they almost NEVER TAKE NEW GRADS.. so that is really the Holy Grail of interviews....I would have accepted the new offer, but kept the line open with Kaiser....but that's just me...

best of luck with your new job.

I know it might seem shocking to turn down the opportunity to interview with Kaiser but, consider a few things here.

CANewgrad got the position she wanted which appears to be OR from another post I read. Hooray for her because OR is hard to get into. Kaiser was probably going to stick her in med surg or tele.

Working Med Surg at Kaiser LAMC sucks. Tele sucks. Stepdown sucks. ICU slightly less sucky due to less patients. Sure you might get a few more dollars 4-5 more but, why would they give you that extra money, unless you are doing extra. As a nurse you DO EVERYTHING. Patient techs job function is minimal at LAMC. The techs cannot collect blood sugars, draw blood, do 12 lead ekgs(fewer places do this nowadays), cannot chart vitals because they cannot take vitals, don't chart I&O even though they hand water (one of the things they can do), don't empty foleys...My observations was they give water, help turn when the turn team is already gone and help patients to bathroom. However techs are used as sitters leaving one tech or none.

Kaiser, jobs ALWAYS go to current staff first. The new grads already at Kaiser because they were hired as a dietary aide, will always get the position over the outsider no matter what. Does Kaiser care that the outsider is a Yale grad with a 4.0 along a plethora of volunteer work...NO. They might schedule an interview with you but, have no intention of hiring you. They have done this with experiences nurses. They are known to cancel interviews that were set 2-3 weeks ago, a day or two before.

She did the right thing declining Kaiser.

My advice for those trying to get into Kaiser especially northern Kaiser, don't hold your breathe. Get any job first then try to get in.
