Just wondering if anyone else has career related tattoo's

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I just got one today, and it came out amazing. Its a butterfly that fades from green to blue to purple with the lettering LVN 2007 under it. Just wondering if anyone else has gotten any tats to commemorate their nursing accomplishments.

Here is a pic of the butterfly/Caduceus tattoo that I found on the internet and have thought about having something similar done.

That is beautiful! Thanks for posting that pic.

Just a FYI, when considering sites for your tattoos, bony areas hurt like nobody's business.

Okay, GothikRN, maybe you have set your profile so that you can't receive PMs, or maybe there is a glitch in the site, but I can't pm you.

I would love to see pictures of both your tattoos, but particularly the Betty Page-esque one. It doesn't have to be on your skin--drawings are fine. I just really like the idea of the Betty Page nurse (though I kind of like the zombie nurse, too, that is so original!).

You should be able to PM me if you are interested in sharing a pic, or if you have a link to your tattoo artist's website, where he/she displays something similar.

The internet being what it is, I totally understand if you don't want to. They sound so awesome, though. Even if you don't share pics, you've totally given me a couple of new ideas to explore!

Thanks!

J

I have a cadeuces insignia, left over from my time as a Hospital Corpsman

Three months after I passed the boards I got a really nice back piece; it's a tree w/ cherry blossoms w/ roots that encircle the tree. I think I got it as a rite of passage; it was a reflection of the transition from being a nursing student to being an RN. My transition was difficult, talk about nurses eating their young. It's nice to know other nurses out there have tattoos.

Thats the pic I used for my tat! Although mine looks less like stained glass, with a different bit of color,(more pastel) and I have a banner over it that says "RN" :)

Very Interesting I think

I know I'm responding to a really old post here, but when I learned I'd been accepted into my nursing program, I had designed a tattoo to mark the occasion. It's a caduceus with a starfish in front of it. The starfish represents a story that has been very inspirational to me, about doing what I can to make a difference even though I know I can't change the world. http://www.geocities.com/rothdaniel_2000/starfish.htm
