Ok, please explain to me WHY we have to take the TEAS test. I understand that it is a test of essential academic skills....it tests on reading, math, science and English...yeah yeah yeah. I get that but WHY? I got A's in all of my lower division English courses, I got A's in all of my sciences (chem, physio, micro, anatomy) and even though I am getting a C/borderline B in my stats class I think my grades are over good. All of this is the kind of stuff that is in my "Pre-test study manual" for the TEAS test. If we completed all of our pre-reques and with great grades, why are they testing us?? It seems redundant, no?:uhoh21:

Where are you Hearts Open wide? I am from Northern California, just checked into Chico State......they were kinda of rude, (old biddies).
Anyhow I do live in Modesto now, but am considering living with in laws to go to Chico State. Are you in Chico or Humbolt?

I hear you.... I said the same thing when they implemented it here..." how could I get an A in English if I couldn't read/write?" After I took it I felt like I had just wasted 4 hours of my life ha ha ha. I wish it was self-paced here but it wasn't...and I had 20+ minute waits between each section and it was REALLY hard to stay awake. The funny thing is that my lowest score was on the reading section which I thought was the easiest..and I KNOW where I messed up... I HATE those paragraphs when they ask you at the end if it was " informative, negative, humorous, etc". My opinion ALWAYS differed from the workbook and walla..it differed on the test as well....but I got in the 96% overall so I am happy.

Hi
double posted....oops:)
The explanation given to me by the Nursing Director was that some professors give out high grades although not earned....and that some students find a way to cheat. So the TEAS is given so that they can see what students really know.

The TEAS is standardized, so it is a good way to compare your skills not only to other students at your school, but also to students from schools all over the country. I know of a different nursing program in the same town as I live in which awards As and Bs to students who can barely read and write. Since education isn't exactly standardized, the TEAS ensures that the students will fall within a certain level of skill and background education before entering into a clinical program.
